I'm sure they can round up enough songs from the Pop'n Music series to make a good american one.
There's plenty of DDR songs from it, there's Tank! and Lupin the 3rd, plenty of songs that don't have any lyrics in them (100 sec. kitchen, Gabba, Beyond the Earth, etc etc). The Classics would probably do well here (reason I wanted to try it in the first place). Wide variety of genres to have something everyone would like, (from Fantasy to Mixture).
I'd think if there were more Arcade machines around, or a better home controller to package with it (other than the mini) they should do it. But I'm just getting my hopes up. |

If it was released here I'd hunt down Konami's CEO and give him a big hug XD
I've never played Pop'n before No where near me has any Bemani game that isn't DDR. Not that I don't like DDR, I'm obsessed with it But I'd like to try some others too.
X( The people arcade owners around me (well to be more spasific, the people that own arcade machines near me) Have no idea what Bemani is. I can't wait 'till I'm old enough to get a good job. Then I'll save my money and put together a private Bemani arcade in my basement Complete with Pop'n beatmania, and DDR |

I KNEW that "Big Colorful Buttons" thing would make it in here!
But honestly, I would love having Pop'N Music over here.....& Guitar Freaks....& Drummania. I REALLY wanna play Across The Nightmare, Stop This Train, The Least 333 Seconds (LONGGG version of 100 seconds. BTW, 100 seconds=1:40. 333=5:33), Classic Party 1, 2, 3, Triathlon, Jet World, Cosmic Cowgirl, P.P.R (WTF does that mean?!), Magical Jet Tour, & Funky Sonic World. |

Pop'n Music will not come out in the US. Firstly, it's way too Japanese. Secondly, the same reason Beatmania bombed (and that's another factor pushing against a pop'n release), it's too hard.
Thanks to Pop'n's general look, parents would buy it for young kids and they wouldn't be able to do anything with it. "Casual" gamers would avoid it like the plague. Result: About 500 total sales. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Gotta agree there. Although there isn't many games out their now that I can't beat. Except Beatmania. So th only way you're gonna get Pop'N is importing it.....Which I'm gonna do as soon as get enough money & figure out how the flip-top method works on my small PS2. |

I want to know sources pointing this out. Is there some way to find out the actual sales (not shipped) numbers for beatmania US and maybe Taiko US? For the whole "young kids wouldn't be able to do anything with it" comment, that's garbage! This following question is for the one's that grew up playing NES. Was there a time when you were younger and whooped your older, teenage realtives at an NES game or beat it before they did? I know I was one of those kids. Hell, I seen a kid no more than 7 own people my age on DDR and we're talking about Heavy players here! My point is, Konami (and other companies in general) should give kids more credit than that. Have a "Pop'n Music Awareness Week" or something to grab potential fans' attention (or allowing some arcades to legally import PoMu could work too *scoffs* like that's gonna happen). _________________

I don't know the exact figures, but beatmania was never meant to be a blockbuster. With rhythm games getting more popular, they thought they'd give it another try, and it's just too difficult to get into. As far as I know, beatmania wasn't very popular at all with non-bemani players, which are obviously the vast minority.
Also, the "casual" gamers that I've showed pop'n music commented that it looks like a game made for 4-year olds, and it does. American parents (who are generally naturally dumb) will see it as a "my first music game" and get it for their 6 year old, who will be able to clear level 10 5-button songs after 6 months.
The fact is, if you want pop'n music, import it. Konami aren't going to waste their money releasing it to a country that isn't going to buy it. Most bemani fans overlook this fact, the same way most fans of things can't understand how some people don't like it. _________________

That makes me sad. It'd be good enough if they US'd it and only sold it online. I'd buy it. It'll be a while 'till I get my CF, and I'm not getting a JP PS2 until I've got one. And the first game I'll get for the JP PS2 will be DDR EX. So yeah. If it came out in the US, everything would be easier for me. And I, am VERY important. |

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread but i'm pretty sure there was a Pop'n US arcade release right around its start in japan. I'm sure it was on the same level as the first DDR US release and thus did horribly. I wish it were possible for pop'n to work here but it probably wont happen. I'm ok with imports anyway. _________________

I will speculate, with about 99.999% certainty, that the US will NEVER see a release of Pop'n music... wait, who am I kidding. It's 100% certain it will never come out. EVER. _________________

Well, you heard it from the guy who lives in Japan. If he says it ain't coming here, don't hold your breath.
Say, have you ever played that budget PS2 game "Demolition Girl" or something like that, where this chick in a bikini gets super-sized to Godzilla-sided? I've heard about it on the internet once. |

Who lives in Japan, Flazh? Cool.
It sucks that it won't come out here. Oh well, I'll have patients and import it when I have my JP PS2 and money and crap like that.
It sucks that I'll have to wait that long though. Pop'n looks like too much fun for me to not have it. |

Seeing how now I can get a magic swap disk thingy instead of modding my PS2, I'm gonna look for good deals on JP Beatmania games & Pop'n games w/ a controller. |

Pop'n 8 absolutely positively is the best in my (and many others') opinion.
I would also recommend Pop'n 11 and Pop'n 12. _________________

...if you can't understand that, it means nothing since the popnmusic controller is a ps2 controller, and the beatmania controller is a ps2 controller, and they'll work with any game. I doubt pop'n will come here anytime soon. |
First of all, if you're going to make a needlessly sarcastic post, the LEAST you can do is make a real point.
First of all, the Pop 'n' Music controller isn't configured like a regular PS2 controller. By default, the "down" button is held down on the controller, making it completely unplayable on virtually every game. However, the Japanese IIDX games are designed to RECOGNIZE that the down button is being held down, and thereby switches automatically to a control sceme designed for use with the Pop 'n' Music controller.
It turns out that the US Beatmania does this as well, which leads to the quite likely event that they wanted to at least leave the door open to the possibility of a future Pop 'n' Music title with controller compatibility. I did NOT say that it meant they WOULD release Pop 'n' in the states, only that there is some evidence leading to that possibility.
Please give some thought to your reactionary responses next time. Otherwise, you just end up "shooting off" from the mouth. _________________

Maybe almost possible, but I think it's more likely that was just left over. Remember, BMUS is just 9th Style, except ugly and horrible! _________________
