It's probably a sign that you should purchase some other pad.

Has anyone managed to add a bar to their Afterburner? If so, how did you do it and what materials will I need to do it drool.gif

I just managed to pass Max 300 today using a chair, but there was so much sliding going on that I could barely hit the top arrow by the end of the song biggrin.gif

Ugh! Mine broke yesterday and it's out of warenty. They declined my request for an exchange. A wire in the left arrow snapped and I can soulder it back on. So I'm out of $200.

i've finally received my mat after madness with redoctane. their customer service stinks..but the mat, wow. i love it!! it's very similar to the arcade mat.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/darkesthippie/Random%20Photos/ddrmatsm.jpg

i've been playing on it on heavy and challenge for a few hours now. i tried playing in my shoes but that slows me down to much, so i've been playing in socks. it doesn't really hurt your feet at all...well not for me, cause i play on my tip toes and hit in the center area. i did scrape across the screws a few times but it doesnt hurt. the arrow panels flex down a little, but dont seem like they are going to break anytime soon. the sensitivity is great. the mat works with stepmania, which rocks. and it doesnt slide. this is a wonderful mat. at first it may take a little while to get used to if you are switching from a soft mat or hard foam. this mat rocks my socks off. Has someone posted the pinout for the afterburner? I want to make a cable to use the AB control box with my flux.

edited the link in the post ( i forgot i moved it to a different folder, broke the link) hehe sorry! ..by the way, i have had my pad almost a month now, and it's still working great! i've been playing 10's and some 11 footers on it (no shoes though. i have played in shoes only a few times on max 300 and a few other 9's. i'm sure the mat would be fine.) it's a great mat and i think it's worth the money. I am now deliberating whether to get a Cobalt Flux (which has a price tag a bit high for me) or an Afterburner. I am around 5' 8" and 120 pounds and play 8-10s and hopefully harder stuff.

I read the whole thread about the Afterburner and its problems of arrows cracking, connection problems with the Xbox and its connection to the computer. This almost convinced entirely to buy a CF

However, the last few pages of the thread seemed to stated that the Afterburner now works fine with the pc and xbox and it has had more positive reviews.

1. I would like to know if the control box problem has been resolved.

2.Also, does this whole pad sometimes break down? and if so, can you fix it?

3. If I play 10s on this thing (I am light) say 3-4 hours a week, will it last half a year? a year?

I'm trying to learn how to flatfoot to conserve energy and all that good stuff, but I'm finding it to be very hard with an Afterburner. The arrows seem to deep for me to easily switch between them without just using my toes.

Are the Afterburner's arrows really that much more recessed than other dance pads, or am I just having trouble adjusting to a new play style?

Earlier today, the 9-pin cable connection to the pad died and came off. Is there any way that I can fix this? Or is my pad done?

Well, if you can solder it back on do it. It's not that big of deal. Easily fixed E1.gif

my X button just broke...that was lame. I was playing stepmania and then it just went crazy for a second and completly stopped. The button doesnt work on PC or ps2, so i'm just guessing it's completely broken. I don't NEED that button, but it would be nice for it to work. It's weird that the arrows i'm stomping on every day havent broke, but the button i tap lightly every so often breaks. disturb.gif luckily it's still under warranty. woot woot.
i just read that they make you pay for shipping for sending it back to be fixed. i'll probably just end up sticking with the broken X button. disgust.gif

EDIT- uh, it just randomly started working again. that's strange...what's up with that?

Yes, the arrows are overly recessed.

i have a question. i posted the other day about my X button not working. then it randomly started working again. well, it keeps doing this. and i've found out that everytime i unplug my mat from the control box and plug it back in, it works again for a few minutes. then it stops. could the problem possibly be the control box? if it is, redoctane would give me a new one right?(since my mat is still under warranty..)

It could be the Control box, the 9-pin cable, or the little connection thing on the pad (where the 9-pin goes) You should check those things and see, somehow, if that's the problem

1. not to my knowledge. either play in socks, or get the RO ps2 universal adapter with it.
2. not as long as i've had mine. the most i had to do was unkink a bit of foil.
3. i regularly play keyboard charts on mine. and it's holding up perfectly.
