I need help with 2 things: stamina and speed.
I can read the arrows on almost every song on every difficulty just fine, but the problem is that I cannot move fast enough. Do you guys have any tips for that? _________________

9 footers, hvam, r+p, csfilsm, so deep, broken my heart, exotic ethnic, just play them a bunch at home or mix everything up at the arcade for a couple weeks, put in a couple 10 footers and u should be noticing a change |

But 9 footers are way too hard for me. Heck even 8 footers and most 7s are. _________________

I know this has probably already been said, but I will say it anyways just for anybody who may not know by chance.
I discovered this to be very helpful recently. In many arcades I have played at I am not able to do long freeze arrows because the pad arrow doesnt hold the stomp of your foot. So what I learned to counter this by watching videos is to hop up and down on the pad while in the freeze arrow. You hop up and down so that the freeze arrow doesnt die, but you keep initiating it by consecutive jumping. This helps when you want to get good grades on songs.
I hope this helps anybody like it helped me. _________________

My problem is reading arrows.
Really fast arrows and really bunched up arrows kill me. I can't even think of fast bunched up arrows like the PSM streams
Just need to improve them things and I think I will be able to do some of the 10 footers and maybe Cartoon Heroes. So far Sakura is the only one I have passed and I got a C on it.
Jumps are another thing I suck at especially on a high bpm song. I can do single arrows good but my mind just doesn't comprehend jumps when I see them for some reason. Any tips for improving jump ability? |

I agree with you.
I know one time a long time ago, I couldn't pass Captain Jack on standard because of the tricky beat, until I watched my friend play it so I could learn the beat and do it perfect. _________________

I can pass every ddr song with no problem andi can AA most songs all the way up to some of the harder nines but i sometimes see ddr players add in a whole bunch of extra steps to like keep the rythm, how exactly do you do this?, i cant seem to do it on most songs but when i can do it it works really well for PAing..i had my greats down to 3 on cowgirl and i think if i could keep the rhythm better in one section i could AAA so i was just wondering if anyone had any tips on better ways to keep the rhythm when PAing _________________

flat foot playing style is the best way to keep the rhythm of ANY song |

He means when people add invisible steps. The most common time people do this is between two eighth note streams where the first one ends on the same arrow the next one starts on. You just add another note in between to keep the eighth beat going, so it doesnt throw you off or anything. It isnt totally necessary, but it can be helpful. If you want some examples, just llok at Dead End's or Holic's heavy stepcharts. _________________

I will say this one more time.
RUNNING WILL NOT HELP WITH DDR STAMINA signifigantly.
You have to push yourself playing DDR to get higher ddr stamina.
For example : My friend and I started DDR at the same time, and we are at near the same level. He runs x-country, 40 miles + a week. I run for fun, about 20 a week. Max300, he nearly falls over, and I'm shortly out of breath, both us getting C's. Keep in mind, he's been running track for 3 years, and I'm a good 70 pounds heavier than him. Running has not helped me at DDR, out of breath wise. You don't work the same muscels in DDR than you do in running. |

I'm having trouble with the home-to-arcade transition. First of all, I noticed how recessed the buttons are, so it's hard to flatfoot without the fear of missing the arrow completely. made me fail max300 and hvam =(
Should i wear more flexible shoes, or just get used to it? |

when going from home pads to arcade pads just play a couple sets of songs on standard (i prefer to play cartoon heros twice every set) then just go straight to the songs you want to play. it'll help you adjust to the pads without the fear of failing. |

I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but I want to increase my leg stanima and strength so I can play long songs. But should i also increase my lung strength?
The only songs that really make my legs burn are the (real) 10 footers. I have a workout bench that can strengthen the back and front of my legs. Which should I work on, if any? |

man, not playing for even just a week has a pretty big impact. My legs kept locking up on Max300, which caused me to fail. twice. =(
Almost exam time too...guess i won't be able to play much at all. |

the real way to get better at DDR is to stop using the bar and speed mods. by holding the bar u look kinda stupid and its kinda of a handicap. speed mods just make everysong the same, tahts boring and lame. if a person wants to get better they should cut those out of their gameplay. if they feel that the songs r easy try doing them in S4R mode. oh wait...no one knows about that CAUSE EVERYONE USES SPEED MODS!!! just add sudden shuffle flat and your good to go! |

The only songs I have not yet passed on EXTREME 2 are Paranoia Suviovor, Paranoia Survivor Max, and Paranoia Survivor Max Oni. Even songs like Cartoon Heros I can get a C. I think I have trouble alternating my feet, and stamina for the paranoia songs. Any help? _________________

Hello.
My name is potat0, and I have a problem. /end AA meeting
Anyways, whenever I play DDR, I can pass most songs (i.e. all 9's and 2 10's (more on that later))
But... I never score higher than a B!
My only cata As are Tsugaru, Twilight Zone and that one retardedly easy Pasanoia on Max2.
The even more absurd thing is that this is all at home! There no arcades within any reasonable distance of me frown.gif
Any tips to get my timing better?
2nd Part
I went straight from B'ing sakura to C'ing Maxx unlimited. From what I can tell, this is a huge jump. Is it really? I ask this because I never really noticed much change in my skill. _________________
