I want to buy a metal pad but I am afraid that it will become unusable very quickly. ( I want it to withstand over a year of heavy playing)

I live about half a mile away from an arcade with a DDR EXTREME machine and am also friends with the owner of the place. He says that every once in awhile he has to call someone and come "tighten down the DDR machine" becuase it starts to become inaccurate when dancing. ( I myself have experienced his machine when its at its low and it isn't pretty)

What I am asking is do the sensors on a metal pad break down over time? and is there a way I can repair then like the owner of the arcade does?

unless you're getting a Blueshark, most home metal pads don't use sensors.

that depends on how much you're willing to spend. with regular upkeep, a Blueshark, Afterburner, or Cobalt Flux can last indefinitely.

NOTE: i included all three so's to keep this from erupting into a "which pad is better" arguement. i've played on all three and own two of them, which i'm not stated to keep this unbiased. =P
