Snow just sounds a little darker than most Ram songs, that's all.

Am I the only one that was super excited about this release, told all their friends about it, rushed out and got it the first day, and then never played it again after a week?

I only got back into it recently cause net ranking went up, oddly I'm still 8th overall in Southwest / IIDX / Light.

No.

I was real excited about it because it was IIDX in the United States. :o I told my friends about it and my friends told me about it. At first, I thought it was a game that I wasn't going to get because I was too poor at the time. Then my friend told me about the songs and I knew I was going to start saving up along with my growing pennies, my anticipation grew waiting for the game to come out.

I was satisfied with Beatmania though. I liked the controller. I got IIDX 10th though so I stopped playing Beatmania US. E10.gif

Haha, now I have RED and I don't touch 10th or US anymore. Hell, I don't even play IIDX or my Playstation 2 that much anymore either.

I did the same thing. I played it until I unlocked Anothers...and then I was done. The songlist is just...poor.

It was a fair release overall and a good FIRST release for a music game in the US. I guess I'm disappointed because Konami could do better, even when catering to a general audience. I mean...they could have put more of the IIDX->DDR transplants in there to get people over. A, Burning Heat!, sync, etc.

I was excited about BMUS until I heard about RED being announced. I played BMUS on and off for about 2 weeks playing the songs that were "updated" from the older styles, before switching back to the JP styles. E15.gif Now I haven't taken RED out of my PS2 since I got it, hehe E1.gif

Has anyone try playing Manmachine plays Jazz ~MI02~? It could be me but it seems like the timing is bit off (even in training mode). I'm getting too many goods, quite a few greats and like 50 or 60 perfects. End up getting a "C".

Yes, I have a problem with it as well.

According to my research, 4 songs that have timing problems:

e-motion (In 7 Key, Beginner & Normal have no timing issues)
Love So Groovy
Manmachine Plays Jazz ~MIO2~
Stop Violence! (Better yet, "Stop severely bad timing!")

At the risk of sounding like a n00b, I just got BM recently (have never played it before) and the one thing I cannot seem to figure out is how to postion my hands. I tried using one hand on the keys and the other on the turntable but it isn't working for me. The way my sister plays it you'd think she was playing Whack-A-Mole.

Try playing with both hands on the keys. Depending on which hand you're most comfortable with, cover the most keys with that hand, and have the other hand cover the other few keys + turntable. This means if you're stronger hand is your left, you might want to try playing with the turntable on the right side. Also, when going into harder songs for the first time, and you find it's hard to keep track of pressing keys and doing the turntable, put auto-sctrach on until you're fairly comfortable with the position of the keys. Also, when getting into scratching, try to form a habbit of using your pinky to scratch. Learning this habbit earlier in your playing will benifit you in the long run.

GAMBOL (A) doesn't have bad timing, its just rediculously strict. Gambol, in all, feel more polished in RED than it does on the other styles.

I guess that would explain why I started bashing my keys in a childlike manner about halfway through both songs because the timing was driving me bonkers.

off-topic, but I sent Konami a quick email asking if there were any plans for a 2nd game, but all I got was an automated response, I'm guessing its too early to tell, huh?

I'm still holding out hope for a RED CS engine-powered sequel, though. Seriously, the 'Rival Data' alone would be worth making a sequel for.

You're missing Tribal Groove. Old 5key was so screwed up you wouldn't believe it. Hello Area Code, the proto-gambol [a].

Because that entails physically rebuilting the codes for those particular songs, and for an American release, they probably didn't want to make that effort (as seen by RED's Toxic and YRGM [a] charts).

Take e-motion for example. Originally, it's timing was the screwy variant that you see in the 7k and Another charts. Then 3rd Style CS came out, and Konami made a new L7 chart for it. It's timing is right, and AAA-able. That's why the timing is right on one chart, and totally miffed on the other two.

I don't see them fixing any of those charts for another reason; They're too obscure for people to care about them. e-motion I can kinda see, but's not like gambol's sheer legendary status in IIDX.

That was 100% intentional, though.
