The beginning of Race Against Time sounds like it should be on a Zelda game. _________________

Be careful what you say; unlike NAOKI, etc., DM Ashura exists on this site! |
...and? I still find him incredibly overrated. I'm not to hide my opinions because the person it's directed too might read it. _________________

I think he meant that, unlike Naoki, DM Ashura interacts with this community. _________________

You are entitled to your opinion. I don't know if #Infinity was trying to refute you or not. He merely expressed that Naoki is removed from the scene, whereas DM Ashura is involved. We should not dismiss him as if we take him for granted, since he could ignore us. He is an asset to the community.
I like DM Ashura. I haven't heard a lot of his music, but he has some good songs. I think perhaps he is overrated, since I don't share in the obsessive fandom of some people. I think some of his songs are pretty great, though. "Euphorium" (and "Z") and "Nautilus" are really good. "GO!" is bland, in my opinion. I like his remixes (I haven't heard too many, but...), although I don't find them to be astounding. _________________

Any good musician will take criticism and deal with it. If he's a good part of the community, he'll stay anyway. _________________

So...
What with E3 and all, has Konami announced which title will contain the winning songs? _________________

For all you GO-bashers:
The song was intended as an experiment. Ashura wanted to do something different. He was in kind of a rut at the time, so he was looking for inspiration. He gave it to his friends, they liked it. He put it on 02Jam, people seemed to REALLY LOVE it on O2Jam. Someone suggested he enter the contest (Might have been me. I rememer talking to him about this competition, but I can't remember if I suggested GO! in the first place). So, because of the popularity of it in the asian market, it seemed prudent to submit this to Konami.
Because the song is on O2Jam at the moment, DM Ashura has to remix the song for it to get on DDR at all. As far as I know, he hasn't started on that. Hell, he hasn't even decided on a style.
Considering the original Rhythm and Police sucked buttocks, and R&P K.O.G. G3 Mix is one of my favorite songs... Even if you don't like GO! give the remix a chance. :3 |

oh god, no, these are all SO bad it is UNBELIEVABLE
Grandolin - this song goes nowhere. Seriously, what would the arrows go to? The piano? The synths? The almost non-existant, MIDI-quality beat? This is horrible to listen to and I can't even fathom what this notechart could possibly look like.
GO! - Again, what on earth would notes for this song go to? The first minute or so is so bland that you could just have 8th streams... but the song is so bland that it would be a pain to play. The generic melody would either need Foy-quality piles of crap for arrows to actually go with the song, or it would just have to be ignored for even more 8th notes. The poor quality of the song and the spastic melody would fit in way better if it were on ITG.
RAT - I thought these were supposed to be songs you could dance to? This garbage sounded better when I heard it on Krusty's Fun House for the NES, hahahaah. IIDX/Pop'n, maybe. DDR, no
TAR - Probably has the best chance for producing a playable chart. Not my style of song or whatever, but at least it sounds like something you could step on arrows to. I wish it had a little bit more substance behind the melody but given the genre I guess that's not too big of a complaint. I'm sort of disappointed that this turned out to be my favorite song
The first 3 songs just scream out low production and horrible charts. Even if they did manage to scrape up a good chart out of them, my ears couldn't tolerate me playing them. This is the kind of music that makes me embarassed to listen to electronica. Beyond that, the only way the charts could go to the music is if they had obnoxious, foy-style steps that try too hard to be too hard. I don't want to start a ddr vs itg debate or whatever but I honestly can't see a place for these first 3 in ddr's library, quality- or notechart-wise. As for TAR, I'd probably acknoledge it but not ever really pick it, or if I got it on Random I'd go "eh, could be worse". That is, if it gets a decent chart.
Please tell me these are only going on home versions.
EDIT ( took out some itg comments, I'm trying not to bring it up too much so people don't think my opinions on the songs themselves are just itg bashing) |

RAT COULD have some fun 9-foot steps actually, with the rapid pace.
It'll probably be a negative 6 footer though, knowing Konami. _________________

I suppose it could, although I'm still pretty pessimistic about that one. There's these chunks of frantic music, split up by random gaps of calm. And, I still don't think it's very danceable.
I know what you mean about exclusive charts though, they're always really easy. Heh, if they're all going onto home versions, there's probably zero chance they'll have good charts anyways. |

RAT will probably be at least 7, not an easy 6, just because it's upbeat and complex. Same applies with Grandolin and GO!. I'd actually see GO! being an 8 because it seems to strictly target more towards hardcore players, but it's certainly not going to b anything special, considering your good point. I'm almost certain There's a Rhythm will be a 6 footer or even a 5, but that's because it's extremely simplistic and will most certainly charm the novices instead of the pros. _________________

these songs are so cool, but grandolin and race against time aren't really my style. i think GO! is definately the best. _________________

Heh, I wish it were in a couple weeks. Then I could cancel my broadjam subscription before I have to pay again.
April 18th. I'll be paying close attention for my name in lights. Or not in lights. Just my name would be nice. Ya know.
Thoughts on the CURRENT DDR Song Contest should be posted in the DDR Song Contest for 2007 thread. _________________

For a second, I thought Phrekwenci changed the title of the thread.
