Better late than never =P
Tada, the BM US Internet Ranking page
Though, don't submit your scores yet, wait until tomorrow, since it isn't working now, I think. <_<
EDIT: Because Tommorrow IS Today. (yeah, you can submit scores now.) _________________

And I almost gave up hope that it would show up.
Edit: After searching for it on my own, I find it interesting that Konami didn't also put the link on the MIED site as well. _________________

It's working. It just went up today; give them time to link it everywhere. Konami doesn't always do this stuff right away. I can't remember how long it took 10th CS to show up on the IIDX Gateway page; I remember having to go into the 9th page and change the 9 in the URL to a 10. XD |

So I just bought the game today.
I'd say the game is pretty nifty, this being the first chance I've ever had to play it. The turntable seems kinda stiff, but according to the first six pages I read of this thread, there's a way to fix that. So that's okay.
But is there a way one is "supposed" to play this? As in one hand for the turntable, and one for the keys? Or could I use both hands on the keys and just get myself to move quickly enough to the turntable?
I guess it would work. It would probably alleviate the cramp in my hand. x.x My middle finger stopped bending after an hour... |

Most people play two-handed and "pinky scratch" the turntable (self-explanatory). However, there are some famous one-hand players that are quite good. Look up the Lisu Tatsujin videos, for instance. I'd personally recommend playing two-handed for now, then switching to one-handed later if you feel confident doing so.
For more information, check out the beginner's FAQ which is stickied on this same message board.
On a different note:
I can't believe I didn't notice this before! Is it just me, or is auto-play completely nonexistent on Beatmania US? I kinda wanted to hear Virtual Insanity on Auto, since it's really no fun playing it. (No Another!? What the hell!) _________________

They probably will. I mean, it wasn't quite the commercial success that DDR or Guitar Hero were, but it was by no means a financial disaster. It's still a little early to say one way or another, but I'm pretty confident there will be another one. _________________

Heh. I tried that before I even saw your post. It works a hell of a lot better. No more cramped finger. But thank you. I shall check out said FAQ as well. |

w00t, Im starting to get better now!
Malice, you were right, the us version does need licenses. (Funkytown was the first song I passed on hyper, other than 5.1.1)
I heard that "use high speed" thing. Thinking it would make me better, so I cranked it up to HS3. Which was too fast for me. For weeks, I tried to pass V, colors, era, holic, and summer vacation on that speed. Then one day, it hit me, why not just turn down the speed? So now I play on HS1 and can at least B everything on beginner. But, im probably gonna have to change the speed again to play hyper/anothers _________________

Need to pass about 4 more songs on Normal & I'll pass them all (Colors, Summer Vacation, Love Is Dreaminess, & others I can't think of). Also passed Mr. T on Hyper. Anyone know which Mr. T it's about?
For some reason, I had a wierd though of having "Baby Got Back" in BM...... |

First of all, Konami needs to wake up and fix the damned ratings. Love is Dreaminess Normal is harder than Snow Hyper. (If you can pass a decent amount of 5's, try Snow Hyper.)
Second, we need more difficulties. Seriously, there are like 8 6's. _________________

Check out some of the CS styles, where there are about 15 7's or 8's. I think 10th style had like 12 8's. 7th probably had 15 7's and 10 8's or so. _________________

True, but none of those will play on an unmodded US ps2. Also, I'm reminded of the arguments that came up while DDR was still trying to make it here, the game was deemed 'too easy' by the hardcore players so Konami had to make sure everyone found something they liked, hopefully they can do the same in beatmania.

Chuh. Like hell it's that way. Or I just still suck at the game. I dunno.
I do know that Love is Dreaminess on Hyper should be a 7. _________________

i've passed just about all of the songs on beginner and now whenever i play them they're wayyyyy too easy for me, so now i'm trying everything on normal and hyper. man oh man snow whoopped my arse on normal and hyper, but the funny thing is i can pass in my eyes(a 5) era(nostalmix) (a 5) and a handful of fours, but the ending of MUSIC TO YOUR HEAD kills me!!! any tips on how to get through that part? _________________

Love is Dreaminess [L7], a 5, is no where near as hard as Snow [7k], which is an 8.
[sync]---
Music To Your Head's ending is kinda dumb. I find it easier to roll my hand along with the synth line, using my index-middle-ring on my right hand to get most of the notes, and index-middle on the left to get the other ones. I'll make a video of that part to show you what I mean.

It's a good idea to find out what HS mod is comfortable for a particular BPM range, and work with that (The game has a handy feature that saves HS settings per song). Don't worry about jacking the HS up right away, just find what works best and go from there. Back when I first started, I only used HS4 on songs under 120bpm, now I put that on +180bpm songs rather naturally, and you'll find your comfort range soon enough. |

I wouldn't call it "stupid," but the first time I heard it, I just sat there with a dumbfounded look on my face wondering what had just invaded my ears. |
