Can we knock this shit off? One of the great things about having a discussion is that if the person who initiated it doesn't want to talk about it, they can let it be and go away, yet other people can still continue the discussion. Unless the OP has some sort of claim over the thread (they're leading a game, for example), they don't really have any claim over the discussion, do they?

If I start a thread about pot and people are talking about pot, who am I to say "okay, you guys have to stop talking about pot now because I want the thread locked"?

Here's my question...

If anyone can get their own thread locked by just PMing a mod, then why not just allow us to lock our own threads like in the Marketplace forum, and so that way we don't have to bug the mods?

Has there ever been a time when a user requested their thread get locked and a mod said "no" ?
