Hey Phrekwenci,
I was just ranting and being bored. No offense intended.

Hey DM Ashura,
Yes, just because "GO!" uses the same instrument doesn't make it a copy. It just has a very similar overall feel.
I wasn't expecting "Euphorium" to make it. It is actually too orchestral, if you know what I mean. At first I loved it, and then I realized that it would be odd to dance to it. I still love it, but I think it isn't the greatest for DDR.

Dude! I tried making up a song but ended up abandoning it... I've been wondering who would win.

Just listened through all of the songs. I'm going to contribute my thoughts.

At first GO! reminded me of a song NAOKI would make, and seemed a bit repetitive at the beginning, but I've grown to LOVE it. It's my favorite by far. I also like how Ashura combined the dance/club and spiritual genres. Very fitting of my tastes. I've gotta listen to more of his tracks!

Grandolin sounded great as well. I loved the piano and violin parts. Very well put together... I loved it just as much as GO!.

Race Against Time was certainly... upbeat. laugh.gif A different kind of tune to hear, considering what the contest's for.

There's a Rhythm... x_X Didn't really like it. R & B is alright for my tastes... but... I prefered the first two. And fr0sty- if you hadn't pointed out that little bit of profanity I wouldn't have caught it. riiight.gif Wonder if the judges caught that.

Grandolin and GO! will definitely have interesting stepcharts, especially since their time's gotta be cut down. (If they're using them in a future DDR game. I HOPE they do.)

DM Ashura and NAOKI should make a song together. XDDD No, just joking. I'm still waiting for dj TAKA/NAOKI. (I wouldn't count Kakumei, since they didn't really... make it up...) Whoa, I just switched topics there for a moment. XD

Sorry if this is too long for ya'll.

I'm overall pretty excited for all of these songs to show up except for Race Against Time. Much less refined than Grandolin and Go!, it, as I stated before, sounds like it was made on Garage Band. I really don't care for the synth that opens the song, and I believe it's rhythm sounds too odd to fit in with the music.

Originally, I only planned on entering Euphorium, Nautilus, and Obelisk. I entered GO! somewhat reluctantly at some of my friends' recommendation. That happened to be the one that won.

Interestingly enough, my inspiration for GO! wasn't from DDR or any Bemani at all. I got the idea while I was at the Georgia Tech arcade and was watching my friend play Yoshimitsu's stage on Tekken 5. biggrin.gif
Wow! I would've never guessed, and I would've never guessed. Interesting. Euphorium doesn't show up on your front page at Broadjam. You have to click the somewhat small link "view all songs" and then it appears. I love it!

I dig There's a Rhythm. It might turn out ot be my favorite out of the four. (I haven't picked a favorite yet.) But then again, I also like Zonk so I can see what the 'problem' with the song is.

I wasn't feelin the DM Ashura track. It sounds like there's an extra beat in each measure or something. I don't really know what it is, but it just doesn't sound right. I bet he creamed his pants for finally getting on DDR.

Not to be rude, but that's how 5/4 works. :3

FOR EVERYBODY, NOW!

DM Ashura's music theory vocabulary lesson of the day: Time Signature.

Time signatures are used to describe the "meter" of the song, the way the beats are laid out. It is given by a fraction. It works like this:

Numerator: Number of beats per measure.
Denominator: Note that gets counted as a beat.

Most DDR songs are in 4/4 time (also known as Common Time, which is represented as a C.)
Cutie Chaser is in 3/2.
Holic starts off in 7/8, then goes to 7/4, then 4/4.
Abstract (IIDX 8th Style) goes between 7/8, 3/4, 4/4, 7/2, and 5/16. O.o;;

My song is in 5/4 time. Meaning, 5 beats per measure, a quarter note gets the beat. (Ichi ni san shi GO!)

Hope that this helped anybody who didn't understand just what it is that feels so weird about the song!

Hmmm, excuse me yes. Cutie Chaser is actually in BOTH. It starts off in 3/2 and goes to 3/4, kinda like Holic goes from 7/8 to 7/4.

No, it's not. It's in 3/4 the whole time.

Hey DMAshura --

Congrats on winning the contest! biggrin.gif About time your music got on DDR.

Question.. have you been informed on which version/s of DDR your song will be on? Just the Ultramixes or maybe a PS2 game? (SuperNOVA CS anyone)

It would have been awesome if this contest would have been for SuperNova. It would have made a lot of sense for me. This would have made SuperNova that much better.

Maybe they'll show up on the CS version of DDR SuperNova as hidden exclusives. That would be a nice possibility.

I've always found DMAshura to be the most over-rated bemani remixer. blah.

Be careful what you say; unlike NAOKI, etc., DM Ashura exists on this site!

Anyway, I can obviously tell that There's A Rhythm is going to have the easiest stepchart of the four, probably a 6 or 7 footer, as it's really quite a simple song. I can see Race Against Time being a tough 9 and GO! to be either 8 or 9 feet (and I predict it to have the most fun stepchart, needless to say). Grandolin will probably be 8 feet.

Grandolin: The strings and piano are good when they play, but there's not enough of them. Too much dead space in the beginning. If it was cut down it would be a decent DDR song.

GO!: Definitely not Ashura's best work. Sub-par at best. Way, way too repetitive (and I like trance!). Give this to Roxor. They like originals that go nowhere.

Race Against Time: Shows good promise and knowledge of music. Would definitely play repeatedly.

There's a Rhythm: Yes, there's a rhythm, but can it fit into DDR? Possibly. Probably. Good song, probably going to be a horrible cut. Going to be played the first few weeks then never get close to Players' Best.
