Most people start with a soft pad. The normal rutine goes like this
1. People hear about DDR
2. People want to try and by a cheapest soft pad
3. The soft pad brakes.. people buy a ignition
4. The ignition pad brakes.. people buy a cheapest metal pad
5. The metal pad brakes... people buy CF
6. They get bored
I was introduced to the DDR world by my friend. It didn't take long when DDR pad became "must have".
I wen't to local electronic shop and bought second hand logic3 soft pad (the pad wasn't soft at all).
Time passed by and my pad started to tear apart after half year of use. Half year is pretty much for second hand soft pad and I have nothing to complain about. Anyway I needed to get another pad. I almolst bought TX1000, but after reading all the negative comments I decided to avoid it. Instead I bought TX4000 and it has worked well so far (5 months of moderate use).
So what's your story. What pads did you have and how did they last? _________________

Lets see, I started playing DDR last January really. That's when I got my first game. So, I bought DDR ultramix, and a mad catz dance mat for xbox. I still have that mat today. It still works, but now I want something a bit more perminant. I haven't decided what I'm buying next. I'm thinking about a CF, but they don't have xbox or USB on the control box currently.
*Sigh* |

1. BNS ignitions, which kept breaking, but the customer service was nice to us
2. CF
3. Lived happily ever after. The End. _________________

1)Konami Official Pad (came with Extreme US), loved it until it broke.
2)Mad Catz flat mat, hated it till it broke, then I was happy.
3)ITG Official flat mat, still have it, don't use it because of #4
4)RO Ignition 3.0, I love it and I've had no problems with it at all .
5)CF- which I plan to buy this summer w/ the arcade mod. _________________

That's pretty close for me.
1) Bought a cheap $20 pad and it broke
2) Tried $20 Madcatz pad and returned it to Best Buy every 30 days for another one
3) Tried an Ignition and it lasted 6 or so months
4) Tried a BNS Ignition-style and it lasted for about 1 year
5) Have my CF now and I still love it
It sort of had to go this way since Ignitions and CFs weren't around when I started. Red Octane's soft pad was the best around. _________________

My progress is
1. A Naki soft pad
2. Later I modded it with wood underneath
3. It became too loud, so I bought another pad
4. Which was a Red Octane Ignition, but it was horrible so I returned it
5. Searched for metal dance pads
6. Found TX-1000, bought it
7. Works like a dream
Happy End _________________

1-6 (or so)) Went through several soft pads.
7) Modded a soft pad with puzzle piece foam and hardwood floor runner plastic, that lasted about 8 months.
8) Home built pad that lasted for a while till I shattered out a lucite panel on LoM.
9) CF, and yet again happily every after. _________________

I started with a mad catz soft pad taped to my basement floor, then I got a crappy tx1000, which I had been using for like 3/4 a year, and now i've got my precious homemade metal one _________________

1. Matcatz Supercrapshit pad
2-5. Other crap soft pads that I killed off
6. I buy an Ignition 3.0. Its broken out of the box, I come here, and find out how common that is.
7. This is when I stop playing at home completley. I don't have a metal pad, and thats the only type I can do good on. I'd save for one, but I have an unhealthy obsession with DDR and...can't.
8. I only play at the bowling ally, and I can only go sometimes. I do play at school on their crap pad sometimes, but that pad is crap and I suck on it. So I don't live happily ever after. I'm very sad
I can't play any of my home games. It sucks, I need a CF so bad. |

1) Naki Softpad (fails after a few months)
2) Naki Softpad + Madcatz pad
3) Wood mod on both pads (Madcatz pad: down arrow fails; Naki: give to someone else so they can start playing)
4) Generic Metal pad (played til after arrows cracked)
5) CF (after about a year got bored of it and sold it)
6) Went to college and played the hell out of the machine there (skill skyrockets)
7) Tunes up Generic Metal pad and replaces arrows with polycarbon over winter break (pad works awesome now) _________________

1) Started with a RedOctane soft mat. Gave it up after a year (Two of the lights were out, it was tearing in a few spots, it was crinkled, and as with most soft mats, it wasn't as responsive as I would've liked) for a...
2) RedOctane Ignition 2.0.
Good so far...
P.S. Does anyone know if the 3.0 is the exact same size as the 2.0? |
