e-amuse cards are used for retrieveing a player's data stored on the e-amuse network. It's mostly limited to Japan, though I've heard of a few arcades in other Asian countries that were willing to shell out the cash to get connected.

Some of the stuff they store:

Scores
ee'mall unlocks (for Pop'n/GFDM)
Custom Courses (IIDX only? You need Konami's IIDX WAVE cellphone thing for these, too)
Custom skins (same as courses)
DJ Points (IIDX)

Exactly what they're for.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-AMUSEMENT

Just a little more detail about e-AMUSEMENT. I've read on the Japanese Wiki definition that DDR SuperNOVA in Japan might get an e-AMUSEMENT Pass treatment along w/ IIDX.

DDRSupernova is getting the EAmuse pass... its been confirmed. If it didn't it would be the only bemani game to not have EAmuse... not the best way to revive the franchise if it didn't have it!

It will mean that in Japan you have the potential to have battles across the country (like Pop'n music net battle), try to beat rivals scores (like IIDX's rivals comparisons) and participate in tournaments (such as Bemani Top Ranking)...

Japan is definately getting the best version... no doubt about it E15.gif

You need e-amuse to use ee'mall, and ee'mall isnt even used anymore, right? ee'mall was just an excuse to purchase crap with your points.

ee'mall will become redundant with the release of Pop'n Fever, and the next gitadora game. Its a complete pain in the buttocks and makes no real sense unless you are Japanese. I personally hate it and can't wait to see the back of it. The worst part is that ee'mall has loads of great songs to unlock in the games, so you have to use it if you want those songs ={ Hopefully once it is redundant all the songs will be available permanently in their respective games =)

For the record, the e-amusement pass is supposedly to be different from the current e-amuse systems, in that instead of using the magnetic cards, it'll be using the IC chip cards (like Tekken 5).

And how do you mean ee'mall will be redundant? I thought ee'mall machines weren't in use since, like, Pop 'n 10.

No supposedly to it. The new e-Amusement passes are already available to buy in Japan (and use in some games, e.g. IIDX DistorteD), and are plastic IC credit card-esque affairs, as opposed to the old cardboard magnetic strip ones.

It is rubbish that we are highly unlikely to ever see e-Amusement over here in the UK though. frown.gif

According to the Japanese Language version of Wikipedia, ee-Mall is slated for disconnection from May 1st, 2006... tomorrow!
