if im at the arcade, i wear flat soled shoes, because they're usually lighter(i'm not an athlete, and i do not pretend to be one...plus im tall, so lighter is better for me, even if its a little bit)
if im at home, i usually wear socks. I have a metal iOn pad, and it IS slippery, but I'm used to it, and if I go barefoot my feet would probably freeze(its in the basement, its cold, doesnt matter how long I play DDR) |

I play with my nikes. Very comfortable, and the inside of the heels don't wear out like vans do. _________________

I have heard lots of good things about Kung-Fu shoes.
Any experiences with them?
If they're good, where might a guy from Ontario find them? |

I wear some no name black piece of crap shoes I traded for two beers on St-Patricks Day, cos I was wearing steeltoes, and in Halifax if you look young (as my babyface often betrays me as such) regardless of what your ID says and are wearin steeltoes, you ain't gettin in nowhere.
So I needed shoes, and traded two precious beers for em. They've served me well so far tho.
Actually, they ended up costing me two bottles of beer, 3/4 of a bottle of peppermint schnapps and seven cans of Blue, because that's what I left in their fridge right before I sailed, and of course when I got back it was all gone. >=( Oh, and two and a half 40s of Olde English. Rather expensive when you have to order OE special into Halifax. (The... BLOODY WANKERS, hello censor, actually went into the backpack I'd left at me mate's to liberate the OE and the schnapps for their own devices -- I'd brought the schnapps back up to me mate's place before I left. Can I swear here? Please? OK, I'll self-censor. Feggin penii-sucking monkeyloving excrement-stains. )
I feel like such an old fart. _________________

Truths I've learned: Money sucks. Aventinus is the best beer on earth. The Honda CBX250 should be brought back into production. Women are evil. Men are evil, too. People have more faith in paper than in other people. All I need in life is coffee, beer, sausages, pre-made Caesar salads and DDR.

For me, it's usually AND1 Tai Chis or some Nikes.
As for the suggestion of Kung Fu shoes, I'm not sure how well that'd work out. It might be worth a try, but they probably wouldn't stand the punishment for very long. (btw, there's a few good martial arts supplies retailers in Mississuaga and Brampton) |

Uh, you've tried to play on a softpad (which I assume is what you have) with shoes on? And it still WORKS? I'm suprised. |

I have an old pair of pink-and-grey Airwalks that are in really good condition that I wear practically everywhere. Comfy as hell shoes, and not exactly something you see everyone else wearing ( pink shoes, that is ).
On the off-chance I'm playing on my friend's pad I use socks. Barefoot gets to be too slippery/sticky sometimes. . moreso on him. |

I decided to get some DDR/Gym in general shoes.
I go to my sports store, to see my dream shoe.
On sale.
They're called Nike Frees, and they weigh virtually nothing. They have a sole that bends to your foot so that its like playing barefoot minus the pain of a roundhead CF screw tearing into your left foot.
I love them. If you see them under some sort of deal, at least try a pair on. |
