What if there was such a thing as a DDR marching band show? I think it would be fun, say if there was Max 300 for one of the songs and we all march at 300bpm.

(only for hispanics)
What if there was a show with hispanics playing DDR? I think that'd be fun too. Then we can all wear shirts representing our countries.

Are you retarded? It's one thing to move at 300 BPM on a pad, but trying to march or something similar would put way too much stress on the body. You couldn't do it for long.

Either way, I've put thought in about it, but it's really not a good idea, considering how many people in the stands would even understand the "meaning" behind the show.

I think it would be awesome to have a DDR band show, cause playing the music would be awesome, but marching it, and actually putting any showmanship into it would be pretty hard.
other than that, I would love to do it.

Last year, the band I was in had a variation of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which had a drumbreak where everyone danced... that counts, right?

If I were watching a marching band that started playing a song that came from DDR (not brought into DDR, like the tunes for V and other classical pieces), I would probably immediately leave.

Hah. A DDR show would be asinine. Although it would be funny to do something with a bunch of tempo changes. LOM --> Bag E1.gif

I'd actually enjoy hearing bag get played live.

I love DDR, and I loved marching band while I was in high school. Danced my kiester off.

But don't put the two together. That'd hurt in more ways than one.

I was in the drumline in my high school marching band, and I have to say that the idea of marching 300 bpm is competely and utterly ridiculous. The fastest I ever had to march for any one movement in a show (about 2 minutes) is 168 bpm. And that was with carrying 40 lb. drums (tenor drums) at my waist. And no, it wouldn't be any easier for woodwind or brass instruments. I couldn't imagine marching 180-200 bpm for any extended length of time (oh hi Drum Corps International), let alone 300 bpm.

Other than that, the idea of a (physically reasonable to perform) ddr show for marching band has floated through my mind several times.

Yeah, that's pretty fast. I've played/marched through a few songs that were around 180bpm though. That was almost too fast sometimes.

Especially when the drumline would decide to be funny during practice and kick off all the songs at twice the normal tempo...>< Dancing with a clarinet at 360...hahahah. I think I just started laughing by that point...

Hell, you couldn't even call that marching. That was just running in tempo.

Cut time would be the smartest idea IF max 300 were the song choice. Maybe for like 3 seconds everyone stops and immitates doing a stream at 300bpm.

And for the record, marching at 180 bpm I find to not be that difficult. I did it for a song last year in insane drill formations and we managed(of course, the Brunswick High School Marching Blue Devils practice for 10 hours straight for a couple weeks just to get it perfect...well..mostly riiight.gif )

Another Idea, what would the drill look like? hmm..

It just really depends on what you're used to. When you're used to marching/playing/dancing at around 140bpm, 180 can throw you for a loop the first few times you try to do it.
