Has anyone figured out how to not have to put the songs in the "In The Groove 2" folder, or is that possible simply by just defining another folder in Songs. Also has anyone found a way to sort it like in ITG2 arcade machines, where there are subfolders on the song wheel. |

For the second question, we think so, but its in testing right now. |

Thats the reason, why we need a LUA Expert, as some LUA scripts NEED to be changed for that!
We have it running, but i am 99% sure, not changing the LUA scripts ends in corrupting the savegame!

I dont know if there is a tool yet for unpacking the PCK files from the ITG PC Demo, I couldnt find one anyway.
So I made one myself:
PCK Extractor beta 1 (for ITG PC Demo)
Download from Rapidshare.
For the program to work you also need this installed:
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package (Change the language to whatever you use in your windows.)

I get an error any time I try to un-pack it. Do I need to restart after I install the Net Framework stuff? _________________

Ugge: Your unpacker was a key element in the enabling that to happen. |

Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question, but how did you do that?
Maybe its really obvious. I can't really do anything until tommorow, anyway, since I'm away from my computer.
EDIT: Nevermind |

Oh, I figured it out. My path to the ITG pck folder was different. Here's my file path that I have to use to correctly extract it:
C:\Program Files\In The Groove Demo\pcks\DA0ADE3A.PCK _________________

You probably need to repack the new files into a PCK-file. From what I know there is no public release of such a program. I could make one and release it as soon as I have time.
Btw, I tried PCKMagic Packer just to make sure the demo could not read the old format. It didnt

I'm going to use somebody else's tutorial for this.
spectere84 wrote: | Anyway, I've managed to get the ITG demo to work without any PCKs. Note: you must have run the ITG demo prior to doing this, because you need a Preferences.ini to modify. Obviously, you need the PCK unpacker.
1. Extract all of the PCK files anywhere.
2. Move ALL of the PCK files, and pck.idx, out of the pcks directory. You can delete them, but I'd keep them around just as a backup.
3. Open the Preferences.ini in your My Documents\In The Groove Demo\Save directory.
4. If there isn't an "[Options]" section, create one (I think that there is, but I could be wrong). Under that section, add a line that says "AdditionalFolders=C:\Path\To\Extracted\Files", replacing "C:\Path\To\Extracted\Files" with the directory where you extracted the PCKs (obviously...).
5. In the "pcks" directory of the ITG demo, create a text file called "pcks.idx". You can make this file in Notepad, Object Edit, or whatever.
6. (THIS STEP IS VITAL) Type "PCKI" (sans quotes) into the text editor, save the file, and exit your editor.
7. Just to be safe, rename the Static.ini file (it's in the Data directory, with your extracted data) to something else. It shouldn't read that file at all, but it's best to be sure.
8. Run ITG demo and smile with pride you 1337 h4><0r, you!
Your Preferences.ini will be adapted into a fully blown StepMania.ini, giving you the ability to adjust the timings, etc. If you want to make it a more "true" ITG experience, copy some of the bits and pieces from Static.ini into the Preferences.ini file, since by default ITG: PC reverts to the StepMania judge 4 timings and a really strange grading scale (99.XX% quad star, anyone?).
One final note: I had already frick around with my copy of ITG demo before the unpacker came out (basically, I made it so that it couldn't see static.ini), so I already had a full INI to work with. If the above steps don't work (they should), let me know and I'll upload my Preferences.ini somewhere. |
