I'm thinking of getting this pad soon and I was just wanted to ask something.
Here on the top right where is says "Add In The Groove PS2 Software" if you choose yes do we get the actual game for $9.99? If thats the case wouldn't it be stupid to get this bundle? |

So, uh, I guess my question is, for the 95% of posters in this thread who hate the RO, what would you say is a good Ignition-style pad? |
I'd also say to go with the http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/4985/VG-DDR-ULTDX/ . I've had two of those for about 2 years now (mild to moderate use on heavy mode) and they still work nearly perfectly. If i just slightly touch the arrows, even with my hands, it registers it. |

any soft pad will break...the sensors cant handle it...when will you understand it...all soft pads have numbered days my soft pad died of overuse in a month but i played an hour or two a day and i had an ignition...cf is the only way to go for a long lasting pad if you are remotely serious about ddr save your money and buy a flux... _________________

Well after light use of about two months, the up and down arrows started to not respond too well. Looking underneath, I find the top and bottom part of the "circle" for the up and down arrow on the white part has a tear. Well, I thought duct taping the tear would help. It did not.
Thus, I tried duct taping the foam inserts since it seems that the inserts in six pieces is not making it level enough for the sensors to register. So far, after duct taping every crack of the inserts, it seems to solve the problem at least for right now.
Duct tape the foam inserts!!!
Now if this doesn't work, then I am going to get the Mad Catz pad and gut it and use Psisars solution.

Id really like to hear you explaination of why my LevelSix Ignition pad lasted 2+ years of constant (at times every day for 3 hours at a time) heavy and expert (about halfway into its life when ITG hit the scene) modes. My pad obviously did not follow your theory. And at 220 lbs/6'2", I am no twig. Also, my TX-1000 defies your logic of metal pads being better. It died in a week.
I will admit CFs are a very definite option (especially since I own one)...if you have the money...Try and get one used! But such a pad is not THE ultimate option for EVERY player. Ignitions for some people will do fine. Afterburners, Bluesharks and Fluxes may be the correct option for others. Even home builts may be better. Its dependent on every player. And Id really like to know what sort of pad you killed in under a month. _________________

i'll explain... all experienced ddr players have thier one soft pad that has lasted them forever and why that happens i do not know. i have heard the same luck with ignitons however the majority of people that have them break them. in my case i could see ripping after 1 month of use...when i got the pad i was doing 5 steps, after playing approximately 1-2 hours a day for a month my down arrow was shot and my pad would no longer react to button presses... i am not sure if it was just my pad but from what the other members here say they have the same problems. if you look at the pads construction it is going to break after use no matter what they just arent durable. then look at a CF's construction. acrylic on metal on metal on a slab of wood held together with bolts...not cloth sewn together... _________________

I am having a problem with this pad not working on my computer. but it works just fine on my friends. When I try and play it on my computer the buttons are not sensative and they often times will stick. It says that it doesn't need a driver, so how should i go about fixing the problem? |

If you have Windows XP, it should have installed and found drivers automatically.
That's usually how XP works for me. I stick in a new device and it takes a little while. Afterwards, I get to use it, as it installed it automatically. _________________

yeah, xp finds the pad, its just when I try and use it the buttons get "stuck" and continue to fire (almost like a lag i guess, but my computer isn't lagging) during this time it doesn't register other buttons well. I've played this pad on 2 of my friends computers, and it works great, but when i get it on my computer it doesn't work well. |

OH NOES! VERSION/HARDWARE UPDATE!
The pads that RO is now making shall be called the 3.2's or RedBox v2's.
Differences:
-Look inside, the sensors are circular instead of a grid.
-The white layer inside is thicker and less smooth.
-No longer comes with Xbox headset extender.
-Color is slightly different. The silver is more metal-y and the Orange is more orange instead of reddish.
-Comes with a different usb plug, but works the same.
-All connectors have clear plastic covers, even the USB!
-Pad comes in different packing material.
-Material around the zipper is firmer.
It seemed to me that it played the same as the 3.0's (Original BlueBox) and the 3.1's. (Original RedBox)
Edit: Hory clap, I found my reciept and RO is sending my old pads back (read previous pages) Which means I'll have 2 BNS's (with RO foam) and 2 Ignitions! QUAD MODE BABY! _________________

Anyone know what to do about tears in the white part?
It only affects the down arrow. It's about where the orange is.

Hello,
i'm new to DDR and just bought a RO Ignition and i'm VERY dissapointed, i've not been playing for too long but can manage to do 5-6footers on the arcade... the pad just suck ! i got it yesteday and half of the time it doesnt register arrow, or the arrow keep sending signal... my girlfriend have a cheap mario-mix pad and it work SO much better than this 100$ junk
I'm really pissed off and I've paid 40$ just for the shipping of this crap... |

I duct tape, but I cover the tear with the back side (nonadhesive side) and then put another layer of duct tape on top of that. So far so good for me.

I agree. My mario mix "Action Pads" work so much better than my RO Ignition 3.0. I guess I have to get a Super Joy Box 13 to play stepmania using the Nintendo Action pad on the PC.
As for the RO Ignition Pad, I duct tape the foam. Also, play on a hard surface if you can. And, if you play on carpet, I use those plastic chair mats to play on top of. It gave me good results. Yes my down arrow doesn't register sometimes and the left arrow can get 'stuck', but I was able to get As and Bs, and once in a while AA. I play standard and some easier heavy. If you are looking to PA, don't get this pad. It is not that reliable. If you are just starting out on DDR, this is a good starting pad to use, though there are cheaper alternatives.

Thanks. I saw a post a while ago where someone did that but it didnt turn out too well, so I assumed I shouldn't. I had been putting magazines in the pad, under the down arrow. |

I got one of these pads a few weeks ago, and I am really satisfied with it! I've gotten A's on things I couldn't even pass with my old mats (especially the damn Mad Catz mat). My only complaint is the leg pain (ankles and calves) I experience on it. Maybe the foam doesn't have enough support for my feet? I don't know. All I know is that it's not fun. I have to do a ton of stretching before and during my gameplay to get ward off the problems.
Also, mine wasn't $100, it was $60, and I bought the $10 warranty from Game Stop, because I have had bad luck with pads in the past. |
