I always found the S-Maniac's on 4th Plus the hardest doubles songs, especially Stomp to My Beat, and Trip Machine Climax.

Ah good ol' 30 FPS, it is so weird playing a pre-5th mix machine...it looks so choppy...I am used to being spoiled now with 60 fps goodness. E4.gif

I remember the big deal that Konami put out with Max -- they were going to reinvent the series and whatnot.

In 4th Plus, Drop Out wasn't a big deal, it just was a fast song...it wasn't until 5th mix that it got whored so bad.

In 3rd Mix days we had SSR aka Step Step Revolution which was Maniac then but default was on flat, you had to turn on vivid (and we weren't spoiled with vivid yet E15.gif ). Paranoia Rebirth was a really hard song, but Afronova was the Basic to Trick song (as in if you could pass it then you could pass many Trick songs).

That is a basic overview of what I remember from Pre-Max days. I started playing back in early 2000 so I've been around for a while--East Coast player E4.gif (I couldn't believe how much people cared then about East Coast Vs West Coast).

S-Maniac on Singles was no pushover either! My Fire Challenge steps, to me, are some of the hardest steps in the game, especially on the forced mods.

I'm pretty sure it's not 60, otherwise Burning Heat, bag, and friends wouldn't be so retarded.

Oosh... My Fire S-Maniac was like Colors Oni just it kept going and going with no breaks in between. Too bad it wasn't more popular, though. That was my favorite X-TREME song. I have to brag and say I have the full mix if anyone wants it.
