beatmania US is Released!

Has ANYONE tested the US controller with a JP IIDX yet? i really want to get R.E.D. and 10th style

Anyone here from Canada have the game yet? Looking around I've not found a single local store with Beatmania in it.

Something worth noting:

If you leave the game idle on the "Attract Mode" it DOES go into the original style 2 player mode. It IS somewhere in the game, but it might not be accessable.

So for everyone who has the JP IIDXs, how/where did you get them, and what kind of PS2 do you have?

I have one of the new slim PS2s and I really don't wanna buy a JP PS2 and I dunno about mod chips because I don't know if I can install it. Thanks to beatmania US I pretty much fell in love with beatmania, well I had before at my friends house on 7th but I couldn't play that as much as I wanted, actually I hardly got to play it at all.

Also is Silhouette of my Mind and Fly Away on 7th style or is that just 6th?

Wow.

All these reviews seem like crap. I love the song list. The way you move, jelly kiss, and Lift me Up = <3.

I don't think I like it quite that much that I'd import, but who knows, when I have enough money saved up I might buy a Jap PS2 (as I still have this god damn DDR EX JP laying around here).

I also passed my first 4 star today, woot. This game is addicting.

And holy crap Genom Screams is not a 1 star on beginner.

I just picked this up. I read a lot of posts on the boards before buying it (i.e. long learning curve, hard game, mod info). At first I was playing in Beatmania because I figured it would be easier. I was kind of disappointed with the song selection.

I then switched to Beatmania IIDX mode. IIDX mode rocks. More songs and different difficulty levels. 7-keys is not much harder than 5-keys. After playing for a couple days now I have one question and one observation:

Question:

Why do they have a Beatmania mode when Beatmania IIDX mode can be moded to only use 5 keys?

Observation:

The difficulty levels are weird. I can pass some easy ones on Hyper (i.e. 5.1.1) but I can't pass Outer Limits on Easy!

They're seperate games.

Beatmania has a seperate songlist and IIDX has a seperate songlist.

IIDX's 5 key mod is like little on DDR. It's sort of frowned upon like auto-scratch.

Originally it was intended for use with the Beatmania III effector pedal. But Beatmania III kinda flopped and never made it to consoles, so it has no real purpose. If you plug a Drum Mania pedal into the jack you can use it as an alternate scratch, but that's all it's good for.

I'm assuming you're talking about the one right next to it.

It's from Beatmania III's foot pedal. That would be where the foot pedal would have been inserted. Yet, there will be no console release of Beatmania III in the United States, especially when the Japanese consoles have not gotten any. Plus, that series is over.

One thing that I do like about this title is that I've gotten about 10 AAAs when I've never gotten a single AAA before

It's a decent title and I'll enjoy playing it but I can't wait for IIDXRED!
