Quick answer, Look at the conection between the control box and the pad itself, v1 is smaller and has a more square shape.
now look at the center, the v2 have a triggerable r1 buttom set in there, the v1's don't.
v0's have "start" where the delta is and "select" were the Square should be.
The baseboard on v0's are not as thick.
The corners of the v0 are like Razor blades.
You probly won't find a v0, except in the closet of the most Hardcore DDR players. _________________

Well, I've been playing my DDR set up for a week now and I've got a few comments.
First:
My DDR machine is my old PC, P4 2Ghz, 256DDR, NVGF2MX, with a really nice new big lcd monitor mounted on the wall, a really really nice speaker system and a cobalt flux with arcade mod kit.
The experience you get with a CF is AMAZING.
I would recommend it to anyone. |

^^ Thanks for that! Helped out when I saw the pad.
When I got the pad yesterday I almost instantly knew that it was a V2 pad. As far as performance goes? Oh man, this thing is rock solid and totally awesome. And I actually feel like I wont kill the thing playing in shoes! And you can tell where you are on the pad, even without the arcade mod kit (which I probably wont get). This is probably about as close as you need to get to arcade playability. The things freakishly sensitive and I love it! Im even thinking about cutting back how much time I play at arcade and start playing more at home!
I <3 CF. (Specially when this beauty only cost me $185)
But the only real big pain in the butt was the global offset thing. My timings around -0.055 seconds. Blech, that was annoying to figure out. _________________

Any information on the PIN-OUT configuration of the controller?
I'm going to wire it through a USB gamepad for use with my PC, but the information on the CF website is out of date. And their links are broken.
Thanks |

Oh c'mon, if you can save up $300, you can make it to $325.
But yeah, without it, you do sometimes lose where you are. It's definitely worth the extra 25 bucks. And if you order it at the same time as your pad, they'll save you some work and install it for you. _________________

And apparently, if you want to be able to remove the modkit for any reason, I suggest asking for the "reverse modkit" as well. Because if they just install it for you, they don't send you the lexan panels that would be underneath the kit's panels.
That still strikes me as odd, because when I ordered both at the same time, I had to install my kit myself. x.x |

The buttons are still triggerable to select songs, the mod makes them less prone to accidental activation. _________________

Yeah, they probably figure that you'll never feel the need to remove it. I know I never will.

Hmm...that's strange. I ordered 2 CFs a few months apart and both times, they installed the mod kit for me. _________________

I dont see why people say CF are "arcade like", arcade mats are nowhere near as sensitive as a CF, plus the arrows at the arcade are ROCK SOLID, ones on the CF bend slightly. _________________

ddr arcade mats are not as sensitive as the cobalt flux but i would say itg2 dedicabs are more sensitive than the flux. That may be b/c i haven't cleaned mine in a while |

Not to be a jerk, but the TX-xxxx Acrylic pads bend as well. And at least the CF panels are constructed from lexan, not crummy acrylic. And the lexan arrows dont really make the pad rock solid. The giant monsterously dense slab of a base that the pad sits on makes it rock solid (not little metal strips supporting the dance pad on the bottom, thanks), while the arrow panels on top are (at least in my experience) quick and responsive.
Those TX pads are made out of questionable wood, (usually) use three strips of metal for support, and are bracketed with 4 screws total (as opposed to 4 screws per panel on a CF), and use a metal "lip" to house the edges of an arrow in place. Not to mention most TX pads Ive played on are sorta flimsy. CF pads are just a very sturdy, well constructed, durable dance pad. _________________

VERY true. I have a tx1000. And today I reallized, it's a piece of crap. Actually I knew that before . My tx is now to the point where EVERYTHING is falling apart. It only responds when it wants to and everything is breaking. Even the corner brakets r flying off it!! And I havnet even had it for 1 year. cfs on the other hand, are amazingly well made. _________________

Seems like cobalt flux is going commercial as well. On their website at http://www.cobaltflux.com, they have 3 sets of commercial CF. The Cobalt Flux school platform has a 1 year commercial warranty. The Cobalt Flux Arcade 2 Platform has a 2 year commercial warranty. And the Cobalt Flux Arcade 6 EX Platform has a 4 year commercial warranty!!!
I just thought that it is interesting that they are manufacturing metal pads that are even more durable than the normal CF.

Here you go quad: http://www.cobaltflux.com/commercial/
I wonder how much the new platforms will cost and if they will be xbox/usb compatible. |
