Metal Pads: RO Afterburner 3.0 or the Cobalt Flux?

I'm stepping my ddr game up to the next level and so I want a metal pad, does anyone here have any recommendations? So far from a little research, I gather the best two metal pads out there are the RedOctane Afterburner 3.0 and the Cobalt Flux, which one should I order? There's a $100 price difference, the latter being more expensive.

If you really want to know, do some research. You'll narrow it down pretty quickly. Do *NOT* post a thread asking for information that you could have easily found by looking - why should anyone else exert effort on your behalf when you were too lazy to find out yourself?

Uhhh, I've heard way more good things about the CF than the afterburner. CF seems to last WAY longer and have less(or no) problems at all.

I think the lastability is worth the extra $100

Sure, the AB looks real slick but I thought that the arrows were unresponsive at times. Plus the thing started falling apart on me only a month after I bought it. All 4 arrows cracked and the foam base was starting to come undone.

Just do yourself a favor and spend the extra $100 to get a Cobalt Flux (and maybe an extra $25 for the arcade mod). You won't regret it.

i own an afterburner right now. i've put it to heavy use since Dec 2005 and so far I've had few problems. A few times, some of the screws loosened, but I just tightened them back up. It's not as bad as a lot of people say.

I think the RO afterburner is fine and is good if you're looking to save some $. Personally if I was going to buy a CF (and I should be) I'd buy it off the marketplace here, some are being sold used for $195-$225 shipped and are somewhat used, but CFs can definitely take a beating(I'd know, my friend owns one.)

As far as I know, There is no Afterburner 3.0

I have both the afterburner and the flux. Both have worked well for me but in general the flux gives far fewer problems. Also, its constructed IN THE US!!! Plus they're customer service is awesome! (I've called them, very helpful). Get the flux, for better construction, better costumer service, but both are pretty sensitive.

I would say get the flux, after i bought it i almost never get over 35 greats on heavy songs (besides some 9's and 10's), and i've gotten about 50 AA's with it and 6 SDG's, I would say get the flux it's worth it

Flux is hands down the most durable ddr pad... I have played on quite a few pads and from what i hear and what i have seen first hand the flux is worth it...

Unless you're like, 600+ pounds, an Afterburner will NOT wear down that fast! I'm the second owner of the Afterburner I have, and it's still in mint condition. I don't think the guy before me used it a whole lot, but I sure do, and it is still very resposive! I get much better scores at home than at the arcade. :x
