You can't because there has been no prior release of the game here in the U.S. This is no more different than dealing with DDR games.

I played Beatmania almost the whole day with my friend. It was great.

I know that you have to unlock songs by playing them to be able to play them in Free Mode. I also know that you have to play all the songs at least once on IIDX mode to be able to get Another Mode unlocked. Are there anymore unlocks?

P.S. I love this game. It's awesome. I'm up to playing fours on IIDX. The hardest song I've passed is The Shining Polaris. I play Normal Mode. E10.gif I think I did well for never seeing a IIDX machine or playing one in my life until the home version. I'm pretty good at Beatmania though, as I've played Beatmania III at my local arcade.

Did anyone's turntable loosen up? How much play does it take? I think mine is still really new, as it is sort of tough to get those repetitive turntable scratches.

i saw a gamespot video, and the song was the metal gear solid remix, what is it actually called on BM?

n00b questions:
what keys do you use in 5-key mode?
what mode would be considered "normal"?

I just installed a slippad. All you need is wax paper, an x-acto knife, a decent phillips head screwdriver, and about 10 minutes.

I've been working through beginner mode, I can handle everything on level 3, working into four and five. I've also been playing with the challenge difficulty setting - I like that more than the standard bar. Also got some easy AAAs.

Getting AAAs is almost disappointingly easy, it seems that if you just over 50% Perfects and just under 50% greats you will get a AAA.

Been trying to do doubles, but wow, that is hard as hell.

1.) Metal Gear Solid ~Main Theme~ (I think).
2.) 5-key uses the five keys on the most right.
3.) On IIDX, you push the select button to scroll through difficulty. There's BEGINNER - NORMAL - HYPER - ANOTHER (Once you unlock it). In Beatmania (5-key mode), you cannot select difficulties cause everything is "Normal."

The keys on the left, at least when the turntable is on the left. Keys on the right, when the turntable is on the right. I think.

They had 8 bundles at the Burbank, CA Fry's Electronics. I picked one up for $55 + tax. I'm kind of disappointed in the songlist but other than that I'm just glad they finally released a home version in the US. I am/was too poor to import.

Does anyone know if they sell this US controller by itself? or should I just grab another bundle.

Is there any way to keep the 5 keys mode like this

2 4 X
1 3 5 X

while the turntable is on the opposite direction instead of

X 2 4
X 1 3 5

like that?

No. You cannot remap keys in Beatmania US.

I hate you. It cost $65 + tax here, which is 8.5% making it $70.51. :[ You cannot buy the controller by itself yet so you sort of have to buy another bundle, which sucks.

Yeah, the songlist wasn't too bad for starters, some did seem out of place (First Day, Celebration (ugh), Funkytown), etc. I am going to get a fliptop and swap magic so I can play IIDX R.E.D. when it comes out...

Because of...

SPEEDY CAT! Let's start and go because I'm a speedy cat, speedy rike a friar, sprendid rike a friar...

AND NOW, ALPHA'S BEATMANIA SONGS THAT REALLY SUCK!
Hey folks, here's the list of songs that Alpha thinks really suck.
- Jam Jam Reggae
- Stop Violence!

Fortunately, that's it.

It's 8.25% down here, but damn that's weak guess I have to get another bundle since my brothers and I are currently taking turns ie fighting over it.

8.25? Jeez.

Glad I live near Georgia's border. I got mine with only 7%. biggrin.gif

Question about Virtual Insanity on Hyper; about around middle-end.

Is that an arpeggio or a triplet?

Yes.

It's better than 8.5%, and we're in the same damn state too. I heard that there's states with a higher tax rate on sales than ours. I wish I lived in Oregon, where the sales tax is 0%.

IGN and EGM also tanked the game...

The general consensus of the elite video game reviewing crowd is that the songs suck, its too hard for newbies (Gamespot and IGN both disliked the controller) and the game just isn't very fun.

Not that I listen to game reviewers but it sounds like KOA really dropped the ball on this one. Guess I'll just stick with my imports...

Well the hardcore players and the new comers seem to agree that the song list is pretty crappy. Really I feel there aren't any stand out songs for the community or the new comer and Konami really messed up when they decided to split the song list in half. disgust.gif Hopefully this doesn't flop E2.gif

Amazing that months ago all of these sites were praising Konami for being brave enough to bring Beatmania over here and now they're saying what an awful game it is because... well, it's Beatmania.

Learning Curve: Half an hour

WTF, that is not true. More like a few days. It took me 15 minutes but still.

Well, I do hope we get another mix. If not, I can always save money and get the fliptop and others. I'm still enjoying it, while it lasts.

Suggestion: Don't bring 5key back and bring more of 7key and unlocks.
