Stepmania 4.0 does not work! Whenever I try to play a song in Game Mode, it crashes right before I can start dancing! What's up with that?

divine_ayu - The ps2 to USB adapter is set in an axis mode - therefore, thinking that your dancepad is a ps2 controller - your up, down, left, and right arrows on the pad are what are concidered to the computer as the left thumbstick on a playstation2 controller. Therefore, when you step on up, and left at the same time, it recognizes it as a Diagnol arrow (upper left) - just like if you were to use a thumbstick.

To change the way that the computer reads it, (from axis to button) - you have to stand on the up arrow (for some, the up and down arrow as i've found out) and hold both the start and select buttons. Thats what usually works for pads using controll boxes - (the start and select buttons are on control boxes for metal pads) so, if that dosen't work, try another combination of buttons that you think could change it (x, and o?)


#Infinity - The stepmania 4.0 build avalible on stepmania.com is expiramental, and is a bit unstable. Your saying it crashes before the arrows come up? This may be a compadability issue with your hardware..
I don't think anyone here could help you with that - I can tell you that theres not much sense in using that build, though.. Your better off using rc4 - or, if you want rolls compadability, go to stepmaniaonline.com and download their most recent build. the default Extra Stage mods are 1.5x, reverse, and dark. Why is dark a part of extra stage? Is there any way I can remove it? Thanks.

I've got a bit of a problem with the ITG2 Theme:



That banner coming out of its holder really looks ugly, and the strange thing is, it didn't used to be like that.

I just downloaded SM 3.9. I also downloaded one song, just to test it out. However, when I run it, it gives me a black screen and I have to reboot (ctrl+alt+delete does nothing, although I can still move the cursor). I'm running (oh noes) Windows 98. Any ideas?

How do you get high scare tables to show up with peoples name sinstead of DDR? like at the arcade you see them .... in Stepmania, if you leave the game running it shows a high score table but all it says is DDR ...

and when you get a new final record, it never shows up to enter your name in the table ... how do you do this?
