I searched the forums to see if anyone had already asked a similar question here, but I can't find much relevant information. If someone did see a thread about this before, feel free to point it out to me. Now, with that out of the way, I'm very seriously considering buying an LCD monitor. I think my old CRT is slowly dying on me, and it's big and bulky so it's a pain when I want to go to a LAN party. I'm considering this LCD. It has an 8 ms response time, which is generally considered to be a good rate for games. However, timing is a major factor in Stepmania, and any sort of delay could make for a frustrating experience. Anyone here have any experience playing Stepmania on an LCD of any kind? Thanks in advance! |

Can it be assumed that the LCD screen of a laptop is not subject to such lag as you have described? _________________

You know, that was something that I was thinking about while I was writing the message. Before I posted it, I tried to find out if laptop LCDs were any different from desktop LCDs. I had no success whatsoever there, though. However, I've never heard anyone complaining about lag on a laptop. So I would guess that they aren't subject to the problem like you said, or at least, it's a very minor issue on laptops. I'm guessing from what you posted that you've played Stepmania on a laptop and had no problems with it? |

Yeah, I only play it on a laptop and I've never noticed a problem with lag at all. :\ _________________

Im using an LCD desktop screen with 12ms response time, and its more than fine. Im sure 8ms will just make it all the faster. _________________

Awesome! Synaesthesia, Patrick, thanks for your responses! Your input, combined with some videos I found on Google Video of people playing Stepmania on LCD monitors (like this one of someone getting an AA on Emerald Sword), is enough to convince to buy the monitor. Thanks again! |
