I was at Circuit City today, looknig for a new TV(As my old one broke.....Got a cool RCA TruFLAT at Sam's Club), and in the PC section, I found a game called 'Dance Praise'. It was alot like the official Konami pad, but had 'Dance Praise' in the middle instead of 'Stay Cool' asnd the pink girl. As you can guess, its a religious dance game. Surprisingly,. by the screenshots, the graphics are okay. But......REVERSE IS STANDARD! Yes, the arrows scroll...down. So..much....purple. The beginner people are porrly drawn(colors look solid).. Did I mention all the purple? The songs are..weird. I'll check gamespot for more info.

EDIT: BTW, I am a Christian.

I'm glad that game developers are trying to find more ways to honor God (if you celebrate Christianity), but I honestly think that game's concept sounds a bit out there to sell many copies.

Y HELLO THAR CHEAP KNOCKOFFS!

Christian here, and yes, I've heard of Dance Praise. But c'mon, this is ridiculous.

The Christian Gaming scene has been a joke for the last few years, and it's the only Christian media that isn't doing fine (television, music and printed goods are doing fine). When I get into the industry, I swear to goodness I'll have a Christian dance game so good it'll compete with the likes of DDR AND ITG!!!

...sorry for the off-topic rant. On to the game itself.

HOPEFULLY, the game has what would be the equivalent of 10 footers in there, and mods as we DDR/ITG/PIU/Other fans would know them. Otherwise the game is only going to be bought by the uuber-religious who will only buy games if it has Christian Words in the title, or at least hopefully (my heart goes out to anyone who bought it thinking it ISN'T a cheap knockoff).

What is it with christians and thinking they have to turn everything into a christian affair? They're worse than vegetarians >:{

Sorry guys, but the christian gaming "scene" has always been a joke. Bible Adventures on the NES anyone? When I first saw it, I seriously expected it to be a parody game.

People aren't finding new ways to worship god, they're finding new ways to make money from other people's beliefs by putting out bad games which they know will sell well, because christians will buy it because they are christian.

And in any case, it's not that good a game by any standards. Christian country licenses and lazy layout, versus the upcoming ITG for PC with actual dance music and a team who actually play dancegames working on how it's presented. No contest.

But don't worry, enough devout christians will buy it to fund a sequel.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Christian media isn't for the "greater glory of God", it's to sell stuff to saps who want to cut their time in Purgatory down.

I'm Christian.

It's not an atheist is going to become a devout after playing Dance Praise.

I AM a christian and that is an insult to me. My family is a very devout christian family and even I think this is a joke and would never spend my money on this. Just because people say they are christians doesn't mean they really are.

Wow, they actually managed to get Circuit City to sell Dance Praise? I never thought that game would be available much of anywhere other than the internet and Christian bookstores. Anyway, if anyone's curious, here's Dance Praise's website. They have a lot of samples of the game's music on there, might be the entire song list, but I didn't count. Regarding the music, it's really not my cup of tea (or would that be communion wine here?). It's not the religious content, it's just... most of it is very generic-sounding, like stuff I would skip over while trying to find something to listen to on the radio. There's a lot of pop and alternative rock in there, as well as some rap-metal (or whatever it's called =P), hip-hop, and only a few examples of electronic music. Looking at the screenshots, it doesn't look like this game is for people who are skilled at DDR/ITG/PIU. The step targets are enormous. o_O

A gernalization was made that all (that's how it sounded) Christians would buy this game cause it says "Praise" in the title. This game is DUMB. And I'm a Christian. In fact that's my life. There's a million good Christian songs out there that are steppable, most of these aren't at all. In fact, most of this is generic trendy "Christian" music that sucks. The Christian music scene has migrated from a good place (where it was honoring to God) into a stupid collection of pathetic rip offs of what WAS trendy in the cecular medium years ago. And in the process they don't honor God (at least not many). It amazes me anyone buys it.

However there ARE good Christian artists, even some good techno out there. Gabriel and Dredsen's remix of "Ressurection" was amazing. And they were featured on DDR EX2. Andy Hunter has some good stuff, and even some mainstream bands that happen to be Christian like Relient K and Switchfoot have steppable tunes. Heck, Sufjan Stevens has some pretty steppable tunes. The thing is you have to go into non-Christian labels to find the GOOD Christian music. It's sad that all the good artists can't even have a Christian label to call home.

Yes that is how it sounded, which made it seem like an insult. Yes I "real" what he wrote. If I did not, how would I know what he said? So am I a "moron" now? So was the moron question directed to me because I thought it was a generalization or because of my faith? That's "their" not "there".

You have 3 options.

-Enjoy the game.

-Dont say anything about the game.

-Bash the game and go to hell.

Take your pick.

I seriously laughed my ass off when I saw this!! I am Christian and I think this is a waste of time! pfft, the least they could have done was get some skilled players to show off the game!
