Hello! I am wondering if somebody had the idea to introduce partner-dancing on two DDR pads and if it is possible. You can make use of the couple mode on Stepmania. My idea is that the partners face each other (so they are turned 90 degrees away from the screen) and perform dance moves which are similar to those in ballroom dances (and eventually swap places). Of course you would have to learn what combinations of arrows correspond to what moves, and you have to create new stepfiles which can be used for partner-dancing. What do you think about the idea? Does anyone of you live close to MIT and would like to try it? |

.......Ya know, I remember seeing a DDR-like PC game on Ebay where somehow, 2 people could play on one pad......Which makes no sense & sounds wierd. They said to play w/ someone you really like......Heh heh.....*thinks of dirty stuff*
As for the idea, it sounds neat, & could help people learn to ballroom dance. Although the song list would be pretty low, since you could only really dance to V or Kakumei. Ballroom dancing to something like Drop Out or The Whistle Song wouldn't be right. |

Couple mode isn't couple at all. In fact, it's the Battle Mode from 4th mix.
I think the easiest way to do this is play versus, one turns on right, the other turns on left, and you do a freestyle with switches. |

Speaking of partner dancing, there should be a dance mode where two people play across two pads (i.e. players switch positions periodically). There could be a life bar especially designed for co-op that includes a bar and a battery, from which you lose a life every time you don't switch properly. _________________

prpbably make your own steps and have one plyr play it on left and the other on right! ...but picking the song would be a prob since there really isnt any slow songs that go with the ballroom genre |

Maybe my subject was a bit misleading. Of course, I didn't think about dancing a slow 90 BPM rumba or just rewrite ballroom steps to DDR. What I was thinking about is an own DDR-style of partner-dance where the partners face each other, one on each pad, and are connected. I don't see why the selection of songs would be limited, since the difference to "normal" DDR is just that the couple is connected to each other by their hands. Why can't you make funny couple freestyles on The Whistle Song? I am not talking about dancing a Tango on DDR songs, but about dancing a style which goes with the song.
If couple mode does not work, you can still write stepfiles for Stepmania in double mode, but for two people. |

Maybe you could program a distinction between 1P and 2P arrows, use an EyeToy, or use moves that make switching necessary. _________________
