How about deleting all members who have zero postcounts, or who haven't logged in for a year or more, or both?
The memberlist is very difficult to use with all of these stale accounts running around. |

It's been suggested and rejected before. There's accounts that just exist to edit the machine locatiosn that would have no posts. |

Is this the most compelling reason?
Perhaps a user should be able to submit machine location data without having a forum account. What is the reason for the access control?
Logging in to input machine location should update the "last activity on" timestamp, anyway. I suspect the vast majority of the user accounts are totally inactive and will never be used again. |

What I think would be easier is a member search function. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there any way to search the memberlist? _________________

The reason why they have users update the machine locations is that any abuse can be tracked to a certain account.
If it's anonymous, abuse can occur. If you have to make an account, there's sort of a liability created for that person.
EDIT: You can search for a user through the search option's search for an author. In addition, you can search for a user in the private message feature. _________________

This would help make the memberlist a lot more usable. |

I tried searching for a user with the PM function, and I didn't see an obvious way to then view that user's profile, without sending them a PM. :dunno: |

You search for that user and go to the search thing and put in that user's name, xD.
You find their posts and click on their name to get to their profile. _________________

Yeah, but there won't be any search results for members with no posts or just a few posts in deleted threads.
I do appreciate your suggestions for a workaround; I stand behind my original post though. |
