Here are 3 noobish questions regarding Beatmania:

1) V. Is V for Extreme and V for Beatmania different in some way? I mean primarily length of song. This is one of my wife's favourite songs.

V is originally from beatmaniaIIDX 5th style. About 2 mins long. Just to give you an idea what V Hyper on beatmania looks like: LISU - V

Wermo wrote:
2) I've read most of this thread and have to say the game looks pretty nice, not to mention potentially intense. Is Beatmania normally divided into stages like DDRMax1 for example or is it free play mode like Ex2?

It's either way, actually. You can play in Regular/Arcade Mode w/ 3 stages maximum or play in Free Mode.

Wermo wrote:
3) Are there usually unlockables in Beatmania and what are they generally if not purely songs? I understand there's likely to be around 50 songs.

There will be unlockables in beatmania. First of all would be the Anothers. 4 types of difficulty currently based on IIDX 12 - HAPPY SKY: Beginner, Normal, Hyper, and Another.

Isn't there a song on IIDX 12: Happy Sky called "I am Beatmania!" "You are WHATmania?!" That'd be cool if it was on our version.....

Is anybody else having trouble with the music player on musicineverydirection.com? It used to work fine for me, but it never works for me any more and I have the flash player and everything. Grr I want to listen to those songs.

I just want to get something straight:
So the controller is packaged with beatmania, correct? They're not selling the game by itself? If I find a $40 price tag online for beatmania, then I'm guaranteed that it's coming with a controller? The Amazon/Toys R Us page doesn't mention anything about the controller and it's priced 40 dollars.

Well, I'm pretty sure it's just like any other music game release (Game, Controller, and Game + Controller bundle)

So that way you can buy the Game + Controller bundle and a 2nd controller without having to buy a 2nd unnecessary copy of the game.

I hope that the controller works with JPN IIDX and/or Beatmania mixes.

I want to be able to play IIDX9th and BM USA

(well duh... its us controller hehe).

well as my FAQ (see sig) says, the controller is backward compatible with all the 5-key games, just make sure it's setup to play with the turntable on the right, unless you're playing beatmania 6th + Core, which I believe supports either side.

And regular PS/PS2 compatible controller's don't know/care which region system they're being used on, just like the memory cards. (I think I still have an old 6th Style save from back in the day I never bothered to delete, LOL... I just happened to play the game on a friend's JPS2.)

6th + Core does, support side swap, but it defaults to both players having the right turntable. 6th + Core also allows for either bm or IIDX style viewing (under the gauge settings).

Wow, Outer Limits on USA. It's a pretty easy 6* Hyper. I just hate the jacks on the 1key at the beginning. Voltage's an interesting choice.

The controller for the US I believe is mapped the same way as the Japanese controller. E10.gif

quick question. The Way You Move, is this a cover of the outkast song, or is it just a coincidence? If its a cover, i'll be happy since outkast (even if it isn't their version of the song) is my favorite group ever. And i can't wait to play Mr. T, its probably my favorite song in ddr, so hopefully it'll be my favorite song in this to.
