So where can I find a good ps2/usb adapter locally? I've got lots of stores around here, Gamestop, Circuit City, Best Buy, Toys R Us, CompUSA.

I was planning on getting a Konami 2 pad from Walmart maybe, unless there are other places to get one?

So what adapter should I buy, and where?

Both my super joybox 10's only seems to work for 1 pad and only for a short period of time on stepmania, no matter the OS nor stepmaina version..how is this possible?

Hehe... Sorry for the quote bump....

I would also want to know what kind of adapter I will need.

I have the gamestop pad. The gamestop logo shows up in the front.

I got this adapter a few days ago and am intending to use it for my CF. My CF will arrive in a week or so. I had some problems with my Tx-2000 pad; you cant do jumps with the RL and UD buttons. Other than that, it works fine. I just want to know how this will work with a CF.

Hey everyone. I'm looking to buy a Super Dual Box because it seems, from this thread, like it's one of the more consistent and reliable USB adapters. However, I'm going the Ebay route to try and save some cash. Upon my ebay search I found the follow item:

A "Super Dual Box Advance"

Will this item give me the same results as a regular "Super Dual Box." Essentially, I'm asking if this is really any different than the adapter, from mayflash I believe, that many review as wonderful. It is described almost exactly the same, but the packaging tells me it is most definitely a different product...

If anyone has an idea I would be very grateful for the answer.

Thanks!

**EDIT**

The more and more I search ebay, the more I find auctions of very similar PSX to USB converters. I don't know how many auctions I've seen with the picture below:

It seems like so many sellers just use the stock picture, however I wonder if there is disparity in their products...
So I come to my next question... If anyone knows a reputable seller that sells quality converters it would be great to have their information/name.

I searched through the entire thread and although I found people with similar problems, none of the posted solutions worked.

I am running:

Windows XP
Super Joy Box (got it on ebay)
(2) Vortz Ignition Pads
Stepmania 3.9

I can get the adapter to work perfectly with one controller. However, when I try to use both pads in the adapter, it stops working. That is, each controller, even when configured, doesn't just send one button press per actual hit on the pad. Rather, whenever I press an arrow its like I hit the button 50 times. Essentially, it sends a turbo spazz of button pulses per each single press on the pad. I use the up+start+select code and in the Game Controllers config each panel does show as having a separate button impulse. I also have the issue with buttons registering on both 1p and 2p side even when only one pad has issued a button press. Also, if it makes a difference I also tried the adapter with two playstation controllers and it does the exact same thing when two controllers are used.

If anyone has a solution to this and could tell me how to fix it I would be greatly appreciative. My girlfriend and I want to play at the same time rather than constantly taking turns...

Ok, I know this problem can be fixed, because I've seen messages from those who fixed it. I have a so called 'Super Dual Box advance" to hook up a soft dance pad to the computer. I am using Step Mania, but the system sees it as a 'twin usb joystick' and all attempts to map the arrows to buttons have failed. This is probably because windows doesn't recognize the million drivers I've attempted to use for the adapter, and because there is no driver, the hold up select and start doesn't work. Please, someone tell me how to make this combination work so I can actually play stepmainia?

where can i buy a USB cable for my redoctane ignition?

i just received a redoctane ignition 3 from ebay and failed to notice that they said the USB cable is MISSING. i thought it would just be a normal A/A usb cable, but now realize it's not because i can't see where it would hook in...

i'm new to this and my only purpose is to run stepmania, i don't have any other game consoles. so i need to get this cable or something to hook up to my mac. but i can't seem to find where it would be sold... can anyone help?

thank you.

^ you can solder a usb connector right onto the xbox breakaway wires. It should be colour coded.

technically that should work....

Hi there. I don't know if this question belongs here. I have a dance mat to use at the PC, but I have a home-made adaptor, the one who is made for the printer plug, not for the USB port.

Well, since I formatted the hard drive, I haven't been able to use the mat. I connected it, installed the latest Direct X, and tried to use the JoyToKey program to recognize the dance mat. But JoyToKey won't work: it says that either the mat is not connected, or Direct X is not installed. Direct X is installed (though I don't know how to check that one out). I don't know if it is that I just didn't connect the mat properly... Sorry for asking here, but it's been two months without playing and I have read many forums and indications at the stepmania website, and still can't make the dance mat work. Do you know if there is something I am missing or something wrong I'm doing?

Though I suppose my adaptor may be way too old for the users of this forum, right? Thanks for reading, anyway.

I have the same exact problem, and I gave my USB adapter away [like an idiot]. I am assuming its Windows problem because IT did work b4 SP2. But I haven't played DDR for a while till I updated my Windows XP to SP2 -- it wouldn't read at all.

Sorry but this might not help; I would try reformatting the HD then try Windows w/o SP2.
