Logical fallacy. No stomping != only playing beginner/light, you can play standard/challenge/heavy without stomping... so long as the pad you play on is in good condition.

Well, whether we are paying for it or not is not the issue with stomping... when playing, having sensors in good condition is vital to doing well, especially on the heavy mode songs.

Might as well play on beginner or light.

Anyway, I hate it when people sneezed when They playing ddr and sneeze all over the screen and touch the bar....Thats sick and ... Gross...

I don't care if people talk on their cell phone, because when it's not my turn to play, I go play something else.

But if I'm playing by myself and people gets on the other pad and starts to talk on their cell phones, now that pisses me off.

The point is I WANT TO HEAR MUSIC AND NOT PEOPLE TALKING ON THE CELL PHONE.... I should ask the manager to turn up the volume up loud next time lol...

Anyway..... i bet everyone in this thread stomps before. just bc people stomp doesnt mean anything. sure the machine will break but your not the one paying for it.(for the machine not the 1.00 or 75 cent you put in the machine).

That is not at all helpful in the many many places where the people don't give a crap in maintaining the DDR machines except for slapping a big 'ol "OUT OF ORDER" sign on it... leaving it out of order for lengthy periods of time.

Don't you feel like an idiot, stomping has NOTHING to do with damaging the machine. I used to work for an arcade and stomping had nothing to do with the shitty pads. Playing for hours and hours the sensors will eventually die and have to be replaced and replacing them does take a while to get them from the vendor. This means that players have to step harder(hence stomping) for the arrow to respond. Please shut up because you know nothing of what you are talking about.

Yes, the pad will break eventually from regular use. But as videoCWK said, stomping will break it faster then if you don't. And besides, there's a difference between stomping and stepping on the pad harder when the arrows are messed up.

I will end any furthering of a potential flamewar by saying this: Some of my post was ill-thought out, but this was uncalled for, and it is apparent that your working at an arcade apparently didn't make you any more knowledgable about the DDR machine than the die-hards who study all the aspects. The abuse a DDR pad has to endure is not only something I have read about extensively, but I witnessed first hand. Sure matinance issues are a problem that can/often do contribute to this and stepping harder is more nessecary when this is the case, the arcade I go to being a huge example, but what I witnessed the other day was far from a matinence issue with the sensors since the pads worked perfectly the day before that, and certainly not hard stepping but pure sensor stomping that did have an effect on the pad when I played.

Horray, time for another rant from me!
Get some popcorn and soda, you'll be here for awhile. ;p

Those two a-holes from last week were there.
You know, the cutters.
No one likes them, they just come there by themselves.
I don't know why they cut.
There are about 6 people waiting to play, all WAY better than they are.
The one played Spin Chicken about 5 times that night.
Omg j00 can pass a 10 footer lolol.
I already hated them from last week, because it was my turn, and they just jumped on the pad, so I went up to him and said "Uh, it's my turn." and he didn't get off, so I screamed at him for awhile until his friend put his tokens in and smiled.
So they're already on my poopy list.
Yeah so they kept cutting more and more kids, and I was PMSing (Which really isn't a good thing) and I just flipped out.
I didn't say it TO them, but I said it loud enough for them to hear me.
Stuff that would be bleeped out on this site, and would make it sound lame. :c

Oh and another thing.
These three Hot Topic girls came in OMG LOOK AT HIS FEET.
LITERALLY pointing at his feet for 15 seconds and with their mouths wide open.
They they decided to scream OMG and chase eachother around the arcade, screeching like the idiots they are.
Then the one wanted to play, and my friend was on the pad, and she PUSHED HIM OFF.
Yeah, he flipped and told her to control herself because she's an effing animal.
There was almost an arcade fight, it was awesome.
Then I found out that she took my water bottle and threw it across the arcade.
Yeah, I ranted about that for awhile and said if she came over here and said one word to me, I'd throw her head into the bar.

Then I went outside and had a cigarette, and everything was okay.
I hope you've enjoyed my rant, because there are many more to come. ;p
THE END.

Today, after a few rounds on the arcade machine, I go, "Screw it," and decide to try PSMO again. As I'm playing, some fat kid came up to me and was doing things like, "OMG j00 aer so awesum, how u play so good?" I'm trying to ignore him, and he steps in between me and the screen to try and get my attention. I fail, and he almost got a black eye. I rant, telling him that if someone's playing a song, especially a hard one like PSMO, he should leave them alone until they are done with the song. He doesn't get it. I show him TLoM, and explain to him during the intro to not talk while I'm playing. He finally shuts up, and after A'ing LoM, I asked him if he learned anything. He goes, "No, I still don't know how to play." Stupid, ignorant, fat kids.

HAHAHA.
I guess I'm just used to it.
I grew up around a-holes my whole life.
Basically I just complain to everyone else, but do it really loudly so the a-holes who pissed me off can hear what I'm saying.
I guess just how I am.. I get really pissed off, but I don't really act on it.
Actually, there weren't any idiots last night.
Maybe that's becasue I stayed for an hour or two.
I was just waaaay too tired.
Plus, everyone left.

Ooh ooh I forgot one part about Friday. ;D
I was playing some course, I forget which one.
But this dude, he had to be about 40 was standing next to the pad with this huge grin on his face, bouncing up and down to the beat of the music.
I just turned around, looked him straight in the eyes with this stare of "I'll kill you" kind of look.
That smile whiped straight off his face and he walked away.
Ugh. -_-

Hahaha, oh Neshaminy, how I love thee. A lot of crazy creepy middle-aged men stand and stare all funky at me when I play. I usually ignore them. Some of them are fascinated and ask me questions. One of them had a daughter who was like, "that game is for boys!" and after watching me, the dad was like, "no see she can do it, you can do it too!" which was kind of cute. But for the most part they're really creepy.

Lol Spin Chicken. As of last Monday, I had the record for it in Neshaminy with some weak 96 frown.gif

Mary, if they're there when I'm there, tell me and I'll deal with them.

Hahahaha.
Nah, they're too cool to come on weekdays.
They want to show how good they are and play when all the cool kids play.

Yay, another story!
It isn't that interesting, but still annoying.
I of course was going for a record, and this kid just jumps on the other side of the pad and starts to dance.
He's full out gangsta.
Do-rag and everything.
I told him to get off and he said "Me?"
So I said "Who else would I be talking to?"
"But there's two of them.."
Then I gave him this look and he got off.
Mother effer made be get like 3 greats.

Okay, so we have this guy who comes in every Sunday, right? And all he does is freestyles, right? And he matrix walks, right?

Well, today the machine was pushed a little away from the wall, (We just recently had to fix the machine, and had unlocked all the songs again) so when he matrix walked, he pushed the cabinet into the farking wall. The screen went dead. We all go, "O SHI!!" and restart the machine. Now the screen is an extremely dark green tint. I'm so pissed I can't even see straight.

I hate when my local arcade closes for good, stranding me within 5 miles of a questionably available Arcade DDR source and within 15 miles of a more sure source. I also hate it when the DDR machine of the old arcade is shipped to the other side of California.

Oh, wait...!

THAT ACTUALLY DID HAPPEN.

Because I know for A FACT that they don't wait to play.
I'm there about 5 days of the week.
I know all the regs, I know all the n00bs, I know all the damn parents and grandparents that bring their kids.
This guy just stopped, stared, and started bouncing up and down.
Then he walked away to play Street Fighter or something.

Yesterday I went AGAIN.
There was this like 6 year old kid tearing it up on Medium.
Dude, he was awesome.
I hate kids, but I have to admit, that was the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Then some a-hole wiggers came in and jumped on the pad while he was playing like "OH MAN LET'S GO I CHALLENGE YOU. I CAN BEAT YOU ANYTIME" Then started doing the cryp walk.
I just went up and stood right next to the pad where he was doing this crap and I kept staring at him.
He didn't move so I just sat down on the pad.
Then he got off of it.
Him and his friends were laughing the whole time.
THE KID IS LIKE 6 YEARS OLD.
Who the hell do they think they are. disgust.gif

When a friend jumps in front of the screen. Of course this is a non-DDR player friend so he wouldn't know how it feels the other way around. Doesn't matter too much though since I don't really take DDR too seriously.

Of course I get him back when playing Initial D by pressing the view change button on him repeatedly. Payback baby.

This idiot got pissed today after school at the arcade, so he starts stomping on the pad as hard as he can to try and hit the arrows. After a while, when he hits the freeze on Max 300, we hear this *ping!* from one of the arrows.

Left side on 1P doesn't work anymore.

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum, but I've been playing DDR for a while, and here is what grinds my gears:

-When people use the bar for Beginner to Standard. I suppose it's reasonable when the song is really fast, but it pisses me off when my sister uses it for 3-footer Lights.

-People who rest on the bars while someone is playing - Hey jackasses, I believe the bars are meant to be used by the person who paid money to play this game.

-People who actually stand on the back of the pad while someone is playing - If you're gonna do that, then have the decency to not complain when the player stomps on your foot while trying to step on the Down Arrow. down.gif

-People who act like complete jackasses where 'DDR Etiquette' is established - You know how at some places, people put their coins near the DDR machine's screen to signify that their turn is next, right? Well, at this one arcade I went to, a group of girls actually stole seven waiting coins off the screen. As for line cutters, that's a different story. If a complete newb cut in by accident because he's not familiar with the system, or if the person who's waiting has been gone for a considerable amount of time, then it's fine. If someone cuts in deliberately to be a piece of poopy, then it makes me want to rock faces.

-People who come into the arcade while completely baked to piss people off - Last time I encountered stoners, they were bothering just about every DDR player. They yelled a bunch of stuff like "Whoo! Showdown!" "Let's see some dancin'!" "YEAH! PLAY [Insert song title that they just read off the screen. Or random 'Asian sounding' gibberish if the song's title is written in Japanese]!!!" Then they tried to 'interview' the best player at the arcade, asking questions like "How long have you been DDR'ing?" "Are you this country's #1 champ?"

Fricking idiots.
