Hehe, geting this in APril... Enough to buy it from my tax return.
Is this Site secure and is the service any good?
Does it have or comes with CONTROL BOX?
WOuld this hurt my feet playing with socks (no shoes)>?
sorry for these questions because i bought metal pad from buynshop and the shipping is bad bc the screws were missing.
Yeah this my 2nd metal pad. | Shipping was ~$45 US. I do believe the site is secure (its been a few months though). It comes with a control box.
The last depends how careful you are with foot placement and how much you lift your feet. I do play on it barefoot occasionally, and haven't suffered any injuries due to being barefoot.
Newer CFs are easier to pick up? I should have waited a few months I guess. |

haha...no.
They're newer V2's just with a stronger, heavier base, and side cutouts for easy lifting.

I really wish I had the foresight to invest in one of these instead of risking it on the BNS Metalpad :[
Would have only been 100 bucks more, and I've only used the BNS pad 4 times in a year because its so awful >.< |

For the people that it did work for, did it just work automatically or did you have to do some things first? When I plug the Cobalt Flux into the adapter, it acts as if it isn't plugged in at all. Any advice? I haven't returned the adapter yet. |
I followed the steps posted on forums about downloading the driver from Red Octane's site, installing the driver, selecting Dance Mode in the game controller setup inside the Control Panel, then plugging everything in and mapping the CF panels inside of Stepmania. I got my CF's yesterday and they both work with the RO adapters. |

I'm just gonna return the one I have now and get a replacement. I think I got a bad adapter. I will be sure to tell everyone here news of my new one once I get it. |

I'm thinking of getting a CF but I'd like to know if one of them will last me a good long time. I've had terrible luck with dance mats...I weigh 165 and don't wear shoes while playing and still I went through my first RO ignition in 3 months and the other in 3 weeks playing 10s.
Is it worth the $300? _________________

I weigh 220, my brother weighs like 260, and it has survived both of us so far without so much as an inkling of a problem. Though my brother has trouble with fours. Me, I've gone from just passing some 8's to pwning most of them, and passing most 9's I attempt since I got the damn thing in January. Haven't "really" tried any 10's yet. (Unless you count my boredom playing PSMO on little...which...I don't. )
Shoes would actually be advisable for a CF though. |

Dude, Ive played on cfs and know alot about them. I basically get the impression that THEY WILL NOT BREAK and can handle anyones weight, no matter how violently you play. They are so reliable and strong. So yes, It is worth the money. _________________

If it actually shipped, 3-6 business days depending on where you live. Since we haven't gotten tracking numbers and since CF isn't returning emails, I'm skeptical that they have actually shipped. I hope the pad is better than the customer service. |

Yeah, I've heard other people complain about CF not responding to emails...but if you have a question, just ask it on their forums. They respond quickly and they're pretty helpful. _________________

Not true. I'm 240 (hey, I'm 6'7" though) and I noticed two 12-inch hairline cracks on the bottom of my CF after about 2 months of use. I was mostly playing on carpet but it wasn't that thick and I thought it supported the CF well.
I made one of those base saving mods for it soon after I noticed the cracks. Hasn't cracked anymore after doing the mod but if you are over 200lbs. and playing on ANY kind of carpet, you'll definitely want to do that mod.
CF is waaaaay better than the Afterburner though. I used to crack an arrow on that thing at least once a week. Hasn't happened once with my CF so far. |

Also if you like playing with recessed panels as I do, def order the arcade mod. I got the clear one today, installed it and it's arcade perfect. Wonderful! _________________

I have an arcade bar from a TX-2000 that broke a few months ago and now I have a CF. The manual that came with the CF said that they don't mind minor mods and that making them wouldn't void the warranty.
So my question is: is there a safe way to make a modification on my CF so that I can use the arcade bar from the TX-2000 on it? |

I don't know how you would attach the bar to the pad itself but what most CF owners that like to play with a bar do is build a wooden base, extend the botton a few inches and attach the bar there. That way you aren't altering the pad itself at all. There's pictures of base mods on the CF forums as well.
Hope this helps! _________________

Does anyone know what brand of adapter I should get to a CF to connect to the PC for Stepmania? Since I heard somewhere that the usual pad-to-USB adapter that works on a lot of other pads doesn't work on CFs. |

I think the EMS Dual Shooter USB works all right. Just have to adjust the global offset thing.
Quick question. Is there any real way to distinguish a V1 from a V2? Such as decals/number of buttons? Thanks. _________________

I'm trying to convince my wife to get us one of these monstrosities and I have a couple questions. From what I've read I'd probably avoid getting the arcade mod.
1) How much does a single CF weigh?
2) What are its dimensions?
3) Must it be stored flat or can it be stored against a wall when not in use?
4) The carpet issue: I have a thin carpet on concrete basement floor in my bedroom and that's where I ddr. Why is it recommended to avoid carpets, especially thicker ones? Is it static electricity? Is it simple sliding? How about I get sticker backed velco hook strips and stick them to the bottom of one of these suckers to prevent any sliding or moving on carpet? Again, is the carpet issue is not sliding but something else disregard that.
And yes I've read about 20 pages of this thread. I'd love to experience one of these monsters in person. I could then easily convince my wife that it would be a fantastic purchase. _________________
