|
|
So yesterday i was at gamestop for no real reason and i came upon this dance pad called "dance pad pro series." it looked like a solid dance pad simular to the redoctane pad and the many rip-offs so i picked it up for a mere $40! then i got home and what can i say but EXCELLENT!! this has to be the best pad for the money have ever had. I can get AAs easily on the hardest DDR songs!! The pad is very well made, the material is the same as the redoctane, and overall id say this is basically a redoctane for half the price. THe only thing is the foam that comes with it is very squishy and soft so i just took some of my friends foam from his redoctane that broke and its amazing how good it is. Also, the cord looks very strong and the box is large and hard, so i think its probably more durable than the redoctane pad. I would say any serious DDR player on a tight budget should definitely pick up this pad.You can see the pad itself at http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=801960
I'll tell you if i have any problems in the future but so far, it's a great pad!! |

Huh, i got what seems to a similar concept from a company who merged with gamestop (EB, I am sure you all know of it) except it is the mad catz one (I know their products are heinous, but it is all I could get my mitts on locally). It was great at first but dammit, now it seems to have that ignition 3.0 problemo where that god forsaken bottom button has gone nuts. I managed to help it a bit by taping cardboard right under that button but as soon as 1 song passes by it seems to sink in and it constantly actuates. It is driving me nuts. _________________

Is there any chance you can please take pics of the dance pad, other than the one posted on Gamestop.com? I just ordered one yesterday, and it's my first dance pad so I'm really excited! T h a n k s !
PS: How's the dance pad holding up? Any problems? |

its still holding up great, but theres one thing i have noticed.
The cardboard "arrow raisors" inside the pad are a little(and when i say a little, i mean a little) off centered and appear too small, the "arrow raisors" do not go all the way to the end so near the end of the arrow it goes down a little.
it doesnt affect gameplay much, but you do notice it.
But after getting a B on MAXX unlimited heavy, i think this pad is still a very solid pad for anyone, begginers and seasoned players like me.
conclusion: spend the extra $10(you cheap bastards) and pick up this pad and get some solid foam instead of another soft pad.
i am unable to get a pic of the pad because i have no digital camera. My mom does but its one of those really expensive ones and she doesnt trust me with it cuz i lost it once _________________

Thanks for the reply! Too bad about the pics. Anyway, do you know where I can get the solid foam pad replacement? |

I bought one of these. Within an hour of play the back arrow quit working. Even better, Gamestop refuses to take it back.
I said screw it and ordered a Cobalt Fusion. Guess in the meantime Im going to have to find something to hold me over until the CF arrives. Maybe see what Best Buy has so I can return it within 30 days when the CF shows up. |

allright, i dont know about you, but there's a piece of paper in the box that says "120 Day warrenty" and you can send it back to pelican and they'll send you another pad for $4. It's really not that hard.
And as far as foam, i got mine from a friend who had a broken red octane ignition pad, but as far as getting the foam, i don't know where you could. You could buy a cheap ebay ignition pad with the hard foam(NOT DENSE FOAM!!) for under $20 and maybe if you're super lucky you can swap the foam in the 2 pads and the ebay pad will work fine and BOOM you got a decent 2nd player pad.
But the packed it foam is only bad for more experience players. If all you have used is soft pads or if you play on light-standard in DDR, then you should be fine. It's just i didn't like because i'm used to my lucky-ebay pad's hard, thick foam. That stuff is like a rock, its almost impossible to bend. Pretty good for an ebay pad!!
Anyhow, if it's foam replacement you're looking for and you dont wanna shell out the $20+ on an ebay pad that MIGHT not work, i would suggest googling(or froogling, in this case) for some hard foam. Just make sure its not the 6-ply dence foam crap, thats what comes with the gamestop pad. |

Mine didnt have anything in it regarding a warranty. The box of the one I got looked like it had been there for a couple of years and was actually hanging open. I dont think it had been returned, I just think it had been around for a while. |

I had the opportunity to play on one of these pads a while back, around the end of last year. I wasn't playing heavy at that point, but it held up well during the hardest songs I could play. Unfortunately I don't own one for myself, it was a friend's. I intend to buy one as soon as I have enough money for it. |

why the hell did you buy it then...the pro's are new pads as previously stated...you obviously bought a non pro pad that was either a store model or was returned tested incorectly and put back out on the shelf...i have no pity for you. _________________

my pad didnt come with those 4 white stickers thingy so the pad doesnt slide that much .
Anyway, I might get this but i'm going to wait til people reply to this thread before i buy it. to see if its worth it or not..
I'm going to buy 2 of them for double play.
Does this work with XBOX and PS2? |

the pad is supposed to work on PS2 and XBOX*(has a cord end for both) but i have not tested it on xbox yet and HAVE heard that a lot of dual platform pads do not work well on xbox. And this being a pelican product...i dont know if you would want it if all you have is xbox. However, you could order a PS2 to xbox converter online if it ever breaks. But make sure its the Pro series pad. The normal gamestop pads suck and rip after about a month...my friend picked one up a while back. Overall, i reccomend at least giving this pad a shot if you're looking for a new pad, after all you do get a 2 week in-store warrenty on all gamestop products! |

Ummmm, I work at a GameStop and (sorry to burst your bubble) I gotta say these pads suck... All the ones I've sold come back defective really quickly, usually within 2 weeks. It may work okay at first, but it'll probably crap out on you. I'm just saying this from the experience that I've been selling GS brand pads for the 2 past years and then taking them back as returns. I usually just write down RO's website when someone asks what a good pad to buy is.
BTW~~ When we started to sell this pad (I think it was around March or April) last year, it was price pointed at $89.99. It dropped to $39.99 in June (within 3-4 months-- it just shows what a bad product it is ;_ |

I have the box. Its the Pro pad. Please dont be a tool.
That pad has been around for a while. Check Gamestop's website and you'll see most stores dont have it in stock and none of them have it on their reorder list. |

what? my pad is still holding up and working great after a good month! The only (really) bad thing about the pad is the foam that comes with it, but replacing it with some good old redoctane foam did the trick.
i dont know how you guys say these pads are bad.
Granted, when these were $90, it wasnt worth it, but now that there cheap, i think there great for budget players.
and now im saving up for a CF with arcade mods, but this should work until then. |

I can say its a bad pad because the back arrow went out on me in less than two hours of playing. |

Yeah, it probably was just a bad pad because ive been playing on mine and ive been doing very well on it(better than i have with any other home pad ive ever use, including the CF, but i hate CF's because the arrows are too hard to hit down).
Also, i brought it to the local LAN gaming center and they have an xbox with DDR Ultramix 2 and i tested it out and getting an A on MAX 300: Max Me Max mix(or whatever the max you can get on ultramix 2 thats NOT maxx unlimited) on heavy pretty much shows this pad is a solid pad.
Conclusion: Go buy one and make sure you get a warrenty(the guy at gamestop said i had a 2-week in-store warrenty on it+the 120 warrenty from pelican where i can send it back to pelican for $4 and get a new one or any pelican products of equal value).[/quote] |
