It's those damn 2x speed steps that kill me. You know, the ones where you need to step/stomp 2-3 times in a row on the same arrow? I can never get those. Does anyone have any advice on how I can nail these steps?

use you heel real fast twice, or toe, and do not lift your feet of the pad

I almost F.C.'ed Dead End Heavy today by doing this, its 190 bpm, and i got the 6 in a row, which is annoying as hell

I need my 2x to A (AA) Dead End. I actually finally did it, but it was a pain in the ass to do. Oddly enough, the 3rd mix here is in the best condition (2 fully registering pads), when both Extreme's suck dick (1 has 1 non-holding pad, the other has 2 non-holding pads)

I haven't been a member of the site too long... and the stuff you'll see here is probably what some other people said in all 47 pages of this topic. I didn't read them all so if I copy someone, sorry.

Impromptu DDR:
1: Learn to "read" the arrows, not memorize them
A. Expose yourself to an instrument. Learn about the timing. It helps with being able to read the music on the spot.
B. Expose yourself to world music. Get a feel for it, and... if you have the dignity, groove with it a little bit. I find it helps if my body has its own movements for different songs. (Heaven is a 57' Metallic Grey: If you swing a lot and maybe clap your hands to the beat, it becomes easier, if not by much, to feel the rythm and keep up)
C. If you have the game at home, take advantage of the practice system that they offer you where you can slow the song down or other stuff. Also, change the arrows so that fourths are RED, eigths are blue, etc. It helps to improve your timing, thus improving arrow reading skills.
2: Find yourself a home song
A. Try and find a song that only you can do... or something of that manner. Look for something that pulls up your highest quality. If theres anything I can reccomend, then its that your natural skill should by top priority. Pull up your stream or chaos, whichever one is the best, before you pull up anything else (My home song is Can't Stop Fallin' In Love Speed Mix - Heavy. My skill is stream.) Be unique before you become a master at DDR. Besides. Having a home turf is kind of cool (LMFAO)
3: No pressure...
A. When you feel the pressure in the song, you mess up, and knowing you've screwed yourself over, you feel worse. If your going to lose, lose in the best way possible. Its better to have a D than an E.
B. Be fluid, like water... You've got to be able to ooze around the arrows without too much difficulty. I see a lot of people tense up when they play, like they're ready to pounce. You need reflexes... When playing DDR, all focus should be on the music, not on the arrows... although... you should be able to react to the arrows reflexively... I can watch the background video and pay little attention (not completely, but I try to improve my reflexes) to the arrow sequence, still getting it right.
C. Don't make any wasted movements. Following up on 3B, you have to conserve your energy. Look cool when you've mastered a song. But if you havent, focus on getting perfects.

You dont have to follow these guidelines, but they've helped a lot for me.

One more thing... I was reading the quote from Zero... Those are actually pretty easy... And stepping on it only three times is not as hard as it gets. Does anyone else like V by DJ Taka btw? Thats a super sweet song. Challenge mode is great...

I was stuck on standard till i started using speed mods. When i mod at 2x i could pass a lot of 8 footers the first time i played them. It can really help a player stuck on heavy.

It helped me get a B on so deep on heavy

Sorry if this has already been posted but what is the best way to do long complex runs of 16ths (or 8ths at 300 bpm)? I can alternate like UDUDUD pretty well but if it's like RUDLRUDLRUDL I just get killed E19.gif .

Running backwards here. Try almost random 8ths at 290 BPM. That's PSMO for you.

Thanks I think I'll practice Paranoia Survivor a lot at the death run part first then once I master that the rest should feel easy.

Can some1 help me with Drop Out?? Im stuck on the 2 parts where you have to hit 2 arrows at at time for about 10 times. How did you fellow DDRers do it? If i play the song, i can get every beat, but when those parts come up, i usually step off till the single arrows come on and do great. i know theres the 4 or 5 left.gifright.gif and up.gifdown.gif i can hit them, but jumping takes up alot of time to hit em. what is the best way to hit all of 'em? I know theres someway in the second part where down is hit the whole time so im guessing you memorize it, stand sideways, and keep one foot hitting the down and the other hitting the other ones. Gimmie some help guys E4.gif !!

Yeah thats how you do the second jump stream. Just face one direction or the other with one foot on the down arrow and move your other foot to hit the non down arrow for each jump. The hardest part about this whole section is being able to move between arrows fast enough, as opposed to reading the arrows. The first one is trickier though, and it helps to know how to move, its not really something I can explain, but if you have EX US you can slow it down or you can look up the step chart.

How do you do on the death run at the end? I managed to figure out the jumps before I could do that well.

You can't slow it down in that game since that feature has been taken out.

actually, if i had straight arrows with do double arrows, i would get it, but im not that good with jumping. After those, i can do the combo fine. My only weakness is that im very slow with jumping. If you have any suggestions, im open for any.

Do you play the song on 1x or 1.5x??? If on 1x, try it on 1.5x. It is going to "stretch out" those "death jumps" for you. They are pretty damned hard to read on 1x. Also, in the second stream of death jumps, when going from U-D to the D-L, alternate your back to the screen, it is much easier than turning your body back the other way.

Good luck, and that song is not very easy.

I'd say treat the jumps as jackhammers: keep your feet a low height above the ground.

And the death runs just take practice, some have better footspeed than others when it comes to crazy runs like those. If it's any comfort, there's absolutely no trickiness other than the speed in Drop Out. No turns like in MaxX (which happens to be 60 bpm higher at the end anyways) or PSMO (30 bpm faster), or no double stepping like in HVAM.

If we want to be technical, I've heard that the feature is technically in the game, but there's no way to access it without a cheat device. I guess we could call this Konami's Hot Coffee. This of course presumes I've heard correctly.

In any event, I have a general question: Is people's improvement on 10-foot songs, in general, slower than their improvement on anything that came before it (Note that I've only played on a console to this point, on a BNS DX Extreme pad)? Maybe it's just because the songs are harder, but I've noticed that while I'm passing it easier than I have been, my score on MAX 300 is still in the B-C range after a couple weeks, whereas I'd generally have anything easier up to an A by now. Is this typical? Or is a limit as to what I can do being reached, either in myself or my setup?

anyone know why they took out letting you slow down the song? DDRMAX2 has it, I just got ex2 and was surprised when it wouldn't allow me to hear the song slowly. maybe they figured that made it too easy to learn the songs since you can easily make it progressively harder and harder until you get up to real speed.

anyway, i think they should have left that feature in.

maybe some of the female artists didn't like how they sound like a man when slowed down so much. but even then there is a way to slow down sound without changing pitch, they could have used that method of slowdown.

They didn't take it out completely, you just can't use other methods of assist. I have no idea why though.

No? 260*2=520. 320*1.5=480. If reading Unlimited at 1.5 is that hard, just learn to play stuff 160 and lower on 3x.
