I've also taken a liking to the song DoLL on SuperNOVA/Str!ke.
So, I took all of the DDR SuperNOVA simfiles availible on DDRUK right now and tried to convert them over. They worked ALMOST perfectly. They still play too fast (besides that, I could select them from the song wheel, and it didn't lag when I tried to switch to those songs), but that is fixed by converting to 48000Hz. I used CuteMP3 to convert the MP3s to OGGs. I made all of the banners and backrounds the correct size mentioned above (256x80 and 320x240), and I converted all of the DWI's to SMs.
Very soon, I will convert to 48000Hz and see what happens.
Maybe I just need to have all of the banners near that size (one of the banners of the new songs wasn't *quite* that size, just slightly bigger) and it'll work. Thats the only thing I did different with this batch then the last batch of ITG2 files. |
Okay, since now we have the song problem almost ironed out, I can't wait for notekins and themes.

One thing I forgot to mention, the packing went perfectly too. No freezing, no errors, no anything.
EDIT: I just tried out my new repacked ISO, and everything works perfectly! |

I would, if I had permission. That is Rodent's friend's desision.
At the moment, I am converting every song from DDR Extreme Arcade into the correct formats. I'm going to see if I can get it to boot without any ITG simfiles on it. I have a hunch that the earlier ones didn't work because they were CDs and I *think* ITG has to be on a DVD. |

If I remember correctly (and I'm pretty sure I'm right here), PS2 executables have a media flag of sorts. So, for example, when you booted your CDs and the game realized it wasn't booting from a DVD, it wasn't happy. _________________

You were right, nekura. It booted fine when using a DVD. I put in a dummy file that made it bigger so that the ISO builder would actually build it.
Anyway, after many hours of work converting mp3s to 48 KHz OGGs, I successfully loaded an ISO with all of the songs from DDR Extreme AC, and none from ITG. I also changed around some things in the Static.ini and they worked too (timing windows, scoring, grading, the thing that causes the mod selector to go back to the little arrow on the side after selecting the mod, and the default mods). Everything in the game seems to work perfectly . Although, it did take a little while longer to load in the beginning, I think thats because it had 200+ songs to load, instead of the 70+ songs of ITG.
Also, again, I had absolutely no problems building the PCK files with the packer (it built one that was over 400 MB with ease! It never would've done that when I originally got it). Unless Rodent or his friend encounter anything wrong with it, I'd say its ready to be released (but, again, I'm not the one to make that desision). |

Can't wait to play around with it. :) I know there are clones of Sony's CD/DVD Generator but I can't find any links at the moment. If I find the link, I'll post it here so that legal crap can be avoided in the tutorial. _________________

Hi there Mates
Kalek, thanks for testing,
i appreciate, as i know, that testing can be sometimes "boring", due to the long time IMS2ISO needs, and then transfer to Ps2 HDD also needs time.
You really did a great Job.
So with RC6 can we conclude following?
- Ogg needs to be 48kHz
- Image Size needs to be 320 x 240 (but hey, isn't NTSC 320 x 200??)
- Changing of Settings works!
- BG Movies still not work
I will forward your Feedback and Impressions to Uncle Dev'ey,
so it's his Decision whether to release this as Final, or still consider it as Beta.
In my Opinion, at least, it could be a good "Public Beta" Release, if not final
So stay tuned,
RGDS

Don't forget that ISOs with only simfiles work fine IF its in a DVD ISO (use a dummy file if its too small).
Also, another thing I just noticed is the save seems to have a StepMania.ini of its own. The majority of the settings I changed didn't work when I loaded my save. But, everything worked fine yesterday when I didn't load it. If this is true, its encrypted. I've looked at all of the files in the save before, and none looked like a StepMania.ini.
Although, the GlobalOffset thing seems to have worked perfectly, since all of the DDR songs are still on sync (even though I didn't change the syncing of any of them).
I also will warn to everyone who attempts this that all songs that are on sync on the computer will be off. The timing offset needs to be changed by +0.04 to be on. If you are doing an ISO with only simfiles, an easy way to fix this is to just go into the Static.ini, remove the # in #GlobalOffset=, and change it to 0.04000. |

hi mates,
a good and a "bad" message:
the bad one: no public beta as of NOW.
the good one: a public beta is aimed for very soon.
No ETA, as nobody wants to get flamed for missing an ETA for one or two days.
soon...
Rgds

Anyway, I tried BGMovies today. All previous attempts at using BGMovies that Rodent or the developer tried have been unsuccessful. So was my attempt.
To get a movie that I thought might work, took the song "Do U Love Me" and tried to convert it. I took the .av and split it, then took the raw and converted it to ogg and just renamed the movie to .mpg. I also edited the .sm to reflect this.
I put the movie in a screenfile (in /RandomMovies/2.mpg), a datafile (same dir) and in the song directory. The game is set to use random movies, I noticed. Since I put the movie in the RandomMovies directory, when the steps start (of any song), it trys to play the video but it just goes to a black screen.
At the moment, I have no idea how it would be possible to get BGMovies to work (except learn how to re .av, which would take up a lot more space, since the movie would be on the disc in every song folder that needs it).
Well, thats my story for today. |

did you insert the same movie twice?
e.g.
in a screenfile (in /RandomMovies/2.mpg)
in a datafile (in /RandomMovies/2.mpg)
if yes, please try:
in a screenfile (in /RandomMovies/2.mpg)
in a datafile (in /RandomMovies/3.mpg)
maybe ITG gets confused with double entries?
I am currently working out an easier and legal method of adding PCK files to an existing .iso file...
stay tuned,
and please behave...be patient!
thanks

Wondering if there was any update on this, seeing as it was pretty close to being finished.
Also, any idea if custom Marathons are a possibility in the future? |

Custom marathons are already very possible. Just put the .crs file in the marathon folder, and the cache file in the cache folder. |

hi there,
from what i heard today, the "Day X" will be very soon.
Quote: | Just put the .crs file in the marathon folder, and the cache file in the cache folder. |
No need for that.
Just put the Courses along with the Songs (or separated) in a PCK File and enable "Cache Checkbox"

Just put the Courses along with the Songs (or separated) in a PCK File and enable "Cache Checkbox" | I didn't know that it supported courses too. Awesome. That will help me in my recreation of DDR Extreme AC.
Anyway, today I tried to put the default theme (from StepMania 3.95) into the game. I added a line in the metrics telling it to fallback onto the ITGPS2 themes, and it always got stuck at the Now Loading in the beginning.
I'm sure it's something really obvious, but I have no idea about it since I don't know much about StepMania skinning. |
