hello,
fridays i was at the developpers home,
and we played around with some settings.
but HELL, we didn't manage to get the poopy up and running...
we both don't know why,
and we gave up 4 hrs later at a high frustration level.
we also talked about the songsm issue kalek had,
yes, the 1st thing is 48khz,
and the 2nd thing could be, that .ogg with VBR could not be supported (variable Bitrate)
Kalek,
can you write a little tutorial about the ISO creation process after modifieing files?
Please via PM, as debates about *D*VD*EN are illegal in some countries.
I think thats, where my mistakes are about.
I hope we get this ironed out soon.
RGDS

I'll write a tutorial. I didn't see anything where I found out about it for CD/DVD Gen being illegal. |

hi mate,
thanx for the tutie
cdvdgen IS illegal.
It should only be shipped out to developers.
any other person, other than official developer, can not have legal permitted access to it.
i'll try it again tomorrow.
thx,

hi,
seems i again misinterpreted things the wrong way
Quote: | we also talked about the songsm issue kalek had,

this both was not true,
the developper managed to fix this issue (amongst many others)
Kalek, i'll send you RC4 in the evening,
also i'd like you to know, that the developer tried several times to contact you via ICQ. Different timezones and your problems with ICQ sem the reason for this:)
Can you also give us all your feedback from betatesting by now?
Thx and RGDS

Alex | So the song issue was fixed? Awesome.
One reason for the ICQ thing is probably the fact that I use ICQ like AIM and don't leave it on all of the time. I just leave it on so that you can send me messages whenever.
And here are all of the bugs I have noticed:
Quote: | Bugs in PCKMagic:
-Crashed when loading Monolith, Bumble bee (ITG2), Life of a Butterfly
-Seems to not want to load to songs that have files with the same name in them (ie. bn.png, thumbs.db [i'm going to try to clear these out and try again])
-I noticed that when making a PCK with no cache, none of these problems seem to happen (except maybe the first one)
-"Wrong Parameters" for Destiny, Vertex2
-Crashed when loading some others (Clockwork Genesis I remember, and Chryosleep), though they would load if put in indavidualy
-Loading 60 songs at once will freeze it? Maybe I was just using too much RAM... Same thing happened when I tried to load the second half of ITG2, but then I tried again and it worked
-On a second try (since I forgot to put "default" at the beginning of each PCK's comment) I could load the songs that it crashed from without them being indavidual
Bugs in ITG that need workarounds:
-Added Songs play too fast (EDIT: Fixed by changing 41000 Hz to 48000Hz)
-If added songs are selected and entered normally, will freeze the game
-Ize Pie and July -Euromix- freeze the game if you try to get to them (you don't even have to press the X button and they will freeze it!)
-When switching to added songs on the songwheel, game gets choppy | [/quote] |

THX Mate for Feedback!
Here are some answers:
Quote: | -Crashed when loading Monolith, Bumble bee (ITG2), Life of a Butterfly |
did you remove all rolls if they have any (and if yes - did you remove them the right way ? )
Quote: | -Seems to not want to load to songs that have files with the same name in them (ie. bn.png, thumbs.db [i'm going to try to clear these out and try again]) |
i can't follow this one ^^
Quote: | -"Wrong Parameters" for Destiny, Vertex2 |
any obscure characters like dots in the filename, [] or ^ will crash ITG
Quote: | -Crashed when loading some others (Clockwork Genesis I remember, and Chryosleep), though they would load if put in indavidualy |
gotta look at this one...
Quote: | -Loading 60 songs at once will freeze it? Maybe I was just using too much RAM... Same thing happened when I tried to load the second half of ITG2, but then I tried again and it worked |
loading MAY take some time, but perhaps there's some kind of hardware like limit
Quote: | -On a second try (since I forgot to put "default" at the beginning of each PCK's comment) I could load the songs that it crashed from without them being indavidual |
not adding "default" for datafiles will cause problems - yep ^^
Quote: | Bugs in ITG that need workarounds: |
Quote: | -Added Songs play too fast (EDIT: Fixed by changing 41000 Hz to 48000Hz) |
havn't got this one so far, perhaps it's some kind of ogg-encoder issue; there definitely WAS a problem with the song bar not displaying the right length and thus waiting some time when the song was finished (although the song speed was perfectly normal (measure with a stop watch ^^). If that was the issue, it is fixed ^^
Quote: | -If added songs are selected and entered normally, will freeze the game |
got around 50songs to work by now, problems only occured when there are rolls in the file or the ogg-file is not a standard one (tried VBR and constant bitrate)
Quote: | -When switching to added songs on the songwheel, game gets choppy |
that's something that can't be fixed, as ITG loads ogg-files in another way than its avfiles; that for the choppiness ist just normal and can be dealt with by moving the game to a hdd
There is also a gift from the developer besides his answers:

I've tried Audacity and ACE-HIGH MP3 WAV WMA OGG Converter. The song previews play fine and I can play them in practice mode. It just freezes when entering the song from the songwheel. |

hi there,
the program i used was Cute MP3 Converter,
it can do multiple conversions from several file formats,
and also batch convert.
a pity it is shareware and limited in Number of Use.
Yes a great Quality,
i am not sure, what exactly he did, but it is grabbed somewhere betreen Ps2 and TFT Monitor

Ok, I tried Cute MP3 converter and the new RC5. I'm still having the same problems as before with songs playing to fast and freezing when I try to select them.
I may try using Raw PCM (since thats what the game uses) and see what happens. |

Hi there,
from "Mr. Developer":
Quote: | Today i found some time to dedicate to the project and analysed the âbugâ that caused ITG to hang when selecting a song (although the preview played totally normal). The only thing that mattered was, that the background image hadnât got the right size.
Soâ¦a bg image has to have the size 320x240px and a banner has to have the size of 256x80px.By doing that, I was able to integrate about 4 mixes. I have to apologize for my previous assumptium that this lockup could have to do something with the ogg file itself. What I DONâT understand is, that you did not try to change aspect sizes of the bg and banner images (I already messed around with soooo many things). Ok, so much said I still donât know why your songs are playing too fast, that never was an issue with my files. Did you stop the playing time with a stop watch and compared it to the playing time in winamp or something else? If yes, whatâs the delta, i.e. difference ? |
Check you Mail, Kalek

No progress that I know of. I've been taking a few days off, but I'll probably start back up today.
Maybe edit the Static.ini to be like DDR? |

I got a little bit tired of my ITG2 simfiles not working on the PS2.
I've also taken a liking to the song DoLL on SuperNOVA/Str!ke.
So, I took all of the DDR SuperNOVA simfiles availible on DDRUK right now and tried to convert them over. They worked ALMOST perfectly. They still play too fast (besides that, I could select them from the song wheel, and it didn't lag when I tried to switch to those songs), but that is fixed by converting to 48000Hz. I used CuteMP3 to convert the MP3s to OGGs. I made all of the banners and backrounds the correct size mentioned above (256x80 and 320x240), and I converted all of the DWI's to SMs.
Very soon, I will convert to 48000Hz and see what happens.
Maybe I just need to have all of the banners near that size (one of the banners of the new songs wasn't *quite* that size, just slightly bigger) and it'll work. Thats the only thing I did different with this batch then the last batch of ITG2 files. |
