Well, personally I am more used of the home versions, as I have only been on the arcade ones three times:
1. Where a girl played it with me and humiliated me.
2. On a school camp where I was planning to not wasting money in the arcade... but, you know...
3. When I was actually good at DDR.
I stick up for both sides, really. I mean, if you're at the arcade, sure, you can show off. But the home versions are adequate to practise, then take your skills and HAVE something to show off, without it costing you a fortune. _________________

cha each side has its pro's and con's, but I mean what's better?
Going to an arcade and chillin with buddies or
Staying at home in your basement by yourself trying to figure out Sakura...
Yeah, and plus, pretty much everyone here knows what they're doing as far as dancing goes... so I say we all go to one central arcade and totally dominate. (/endrant.) _________________

Because there metal and there not foamy. Like i tried playing on the faomy ones and it was too hard and didnt work too well. With the metal ones i can stomp on then and not worry about it not working or anything. _________________

I like it better at home, personally. The mat at our arcade slips. I guess some kids were fooling around on it or something, or it wasn't properly set up... because when two teens try to play on it at the same time, it moves all over the place. o_o
My mat at home stays in one spot, hehe. *hugs her mat* It's also more sensitive, so my score will be higher than at the arcade. |

The arcade is better cause...
1 Show off your skills
2 alot of songs
3 good setup with good pads ( usually)
But home is great practice and is still fun if u dont use a soft pad _________________

I greatly prefer playing at home. My home dance mats are much more responsive than the ones at the local arcade, and the machine there (Extreme Plus) tends to freeze or speed up or do other stupid things for no good reason. Also, I have WAY more songs on Stepmania than any arcade machine you'll find. And at home I'm also free to curse loudly or unbutton/remove my shirt without people thinking I'm some sort of retard (unless I decide to record it and put it on the internet afterwards). _________________

I prefer playing at home now. There is an arcade about 8 miles from my house in Leominster, but I don't go there often since it's a roller skating rink and I have to have my mother or stepfather come with me in order to get free admission since they work there. I hate relying on other people.
I like playing at home better since I do have a metal pad, crappy as it is. I also have 16 DDR games, which I have been collecting since 2001, between US mixes and imports, on PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. I also have ITG for PS2. I find that I have more than enough songs, especially with the ultramix series, with 14 songpacks downloaded as of now.
I also like playing at home because I can turn the music up loud enough to here the bass (gotta love the Monster Game Surround speakers), whereas an arcade may have the volume down low, even inaudible at some arcades. |

Arcade. It takes some getting used to, but its WAY more fun. Besides, the home pads wear out after a while. I've gone through 4 of them. Home pads are only good for playing in Light/Basic mode. But you could, of course, get a metal pad on ebay. I'm gonna do that sometime.
Right now, I'm on my 5th pad, and soon I'll need to get rid of this one too. |

i have to say home is best for me. A cobalt flux with an arcade style mode feels more sensitive than a ddr arcade cabinet. Although i do prefer itg cabinet over a flux.
But at home no distractions, more song selections and no worries about failing anything before the 3rd stage which gives me the chance to attempt the toughest songs more often. The arcade is only good since its a social setting. |

I like the arcade, cos of the MASSIVE selection of tracks, the mats are good, and you can show off and people will care But only just, because my local arcades difficulty is set quite high, once i missed 7 arrows and boom, GAME OVER! |

I heart DDR arcade. it's so much fun, i prefer it to console ddr. I like extreme better than all the US console mixes combined, and even though my arcade has a machine in pretty rough condition, the pads are ok and i dont have a "loudness" problem cuz in michigan no one cares about ddr . although i have drawn in some pretty amazingly large crowds myself(i just got back and after gettin an A on Bag on heavy, i think i deserve some respect), most of the people are annoying preppy 14 year old girls who go "OMG ITS THE DANCE GAME!!!" and homophobic 14-year old boys who go "ddr is for fags derr grand theft auto ownzzzzz" and i have yet to meet any DDR buddies(at my local LAN gaming center i have tho) we got the whole movie theater game room packed with onlooking people tho. and the classic switch move me and my buddy do always draws some nice big crowds.
but i would like to meet a DDR chick who shares my passion for the game and j-pop alike. Along with final fantasy so we can be a geeky little gamer couple ......blah who am i kidding it wont happen. _________________
