Finally gave up on the endless search of metal pads.

allright, so i've decided i'm just gonna call it quits on metal pads and wait till my birthday/xmas and get a cobalt flux. But, i still need another pad! So I decided i'll settle with a cheap foam pad for a while. Which leads me to my question. What is the best hard-foam pad under $60? I had a redoctane, but it blew foam chunks(hahaha, i thought that was good) so i returned it and spent it on some good anime, and i have some crazy off-brand hard-foam pad that works great i got on ebay really cheap. The thing is, i no longer trust ebay because i told my friends how great my pad was and they all got burned

so i want one with a decent site. I hear MyMyBox are good, but whats the best?

Levelsix, I'd say. I've had an RO ignition, a levelsix ignition, and some generic ebay ignitions, and levelsix was easily the best, for less than $50 too

i saw the level six pads, they look exactly like my current pad. i would put pics, but my mac sucks and i cant figure out how to(im just a PC kinda guy). So far, its worked great but its starting to get a little worse. But it was good for spending $35 w/ shipping on ebay.

yeah redoctane totally went downhill after the 3.0 came out.....first that pad sucked and now even their afterburners suck!

i hear many mixed things about the mymybox pads, so im a bit "eh" about it. but i see they have 3 different ones, so which one do i get?

I have two of them; my earlier one I have had for well over a year, maybe two years, and it still works excellently (my left arrow likes to "ghost" arrows now but it's two years old, come on). My newer one isn't quite as good, but it's still great value.

You aren't spending a hundred on the thing so you might as well get one

Shipping is fast too.

when you say your new one isnt "quite as good" that makes me thing that maybe that the pad is like a win or lose situation. Kinda like ebay pads. And if it sucks and i have to send it back thats gonna bring me down $30. I'm thinking about those naki foam pads also. i hear if you replace the foam with some hard foam(i can get some redoctane foam for free from my friends broken redoctane), they work great for PS2 and i can get a year warrenty on it for $5 more dollars at eb games. So with tax that will be cheaper in the long run(only about $60!). I think i might just do that, it seems like the safest way to go. and with that cobalt flux with arcade mod i'll be getting in a good 6-8 months, i think i'll be OK on dance pads till then.

I better make sure these naki pads are good.

edit: i couldn't find any naki pads on ebgames or gamestops website, but on gamestop i found this ignition style pad on sale for $40!! does anyone know if its any good? heres the link to where i found it.

OK, by "not as good" I mean the following:

the arrows are raised, but not as much. The arrows are a bit less "firm," too. Plus it appears that the up sensor is too close to the center and the down sensor is too far frmo it.. just a little bit. I play a lot of Expert songs and stuff on ITG so I notice it, but if you're just getting into the game and you are playing standard or light (or even heavy on DDR) you should have no problems.

BTW: when I got my newer pad, the up arrow was triggering the right arrow. Upon calling BuyNShop, I was told to take out the foam insert, and roll the pad up like a sleeping bag (with the arrows facing outward). Leave it like that for an hour or so, then try it again, apparently that "unsticks" the sensors (which might happen during shipment of the pad).

Regardless I strongly recommend the pad

I've yet to find a better foam-style pad; the redoctane ignition is about the same in quality.

and im gonna be playing expert songs on ITG and max songs and other 10-footers in DDR.

J-POP_FOR_LIFE - The Naki foam pad you were talking about was sold only @ EB Games. Also I do not believe that Gamestop does warranty where you could return/exchange if defective. But this is what I know and may be different per state.

However I do not think EBGames do sell these Naki pads with warranty anymore [well at stores]. The last time I've ever seen these was six months ago where I physcially went in to a store and see if they have the Naki pad. They were always out, and months later, I gave up the warranty and just threw out the pad.

If you can find one, get an Ignition V2 Softpad by RedOctane. I have had mine for two years and it has never ghosted or given me problems once. I play stuff like ITG 12's and 10 footers all the time and it's held up incredibly. I haven't modded it at all either.

i used to have a redoctane ignition V3 and the first one was a dud so i returned it got another one that worked great for a week and then the up arrow pooped out on me. So then i gave up, returned it, and got the cowboy bebop dvds(great show by the way).

I think i'm just gonna see gamestop if they have that pelican ignition-style pad with a year warrenty just to check it out.

If not, well, i think i might take the risk with an ebay ignition-style pad.

why don't you check the buyandshop or mymybox. Their pads are pretty good and reasonable price. you can contact them directly too.

sometime, you can get a good deal on ebay too.
