After reading through many forums, I've heard many people recommend the BNS DX. However, I've heard that BNS had a manfacturing change and that now the inserts move around--a lot. So, I was wondering if the mat is any good anymore? Would you recommend it? -- I am about 130 pounds and I play DDR about 1-2 hours a day; mostly 6-8 footers

I own such a pad, which I got in August of '05. I don't know when the manufacturing change happened (It sounds like it was before then if the change hit all brands simultaneously), but I can tell you that I weigh about 150 pounds and play mainly 8-9 footers, and it works fine for me. I do notice the foam moves around a bit, but I'd hardly call it "a lot".

Okay, I think they did have a manufacturing change, since I have two of these pads. One I got almost 2 years ago, the other about half a year ago.

The newer one:

the arrows are still raised, but they are "softer" or less "firm," which isn't a huge problem but the older one is better in this respect.

The sensors appear a bit too much shifted backward, as in the up arrow triggers when I press the top part of the center panel, and the down arrow doesn't trigger unless I press it a bit farther down. This isn't a huge deal but it is annoying sometimes.

There are no LEDs in the control box thing.

Mine has a PS2 plug and an Xbox plug, but I just play it on PS2 so I don't know how well it works on Xbox.

Overall though the quality is great for the price and I'd recommend it E1.gif

Oh, and as I posted in this thread:

BTW: when I got my newer pad, the up arrow was triggering the right arrow. Upon calling BuyNShop, I was told to take out the foam insert, and roll the pad up like a sleeping bag (with the arrows facing outward). Leave it like that for an hour or so, then try it again, apparently that "unsticks" the sensors (which might happen during shipment of the pad).
