|
|
I am gonna post this, and I want people to give me some pointers. Note-this is for Hnor Society, so that's why I say "we" and say stuff we need to vote on. here it is:
NJHS DDR Tournament
The Setup
The gym department has all the necessary equipment to hold a DDR tournament (PS2, The only thing that we may need is a DDR game to use. The gym department has DDR Max and DDR Extreme 2. However, I recommend we use my copy of ITG (In The groove) since it is way better, and the songs sound way better. It is the exact same thing as DDR. I have no problem with lending my copy of ITG for the day we do the tourney.
How Itâll Work
Basically, weâll have rounds, two people a round, on two pads. From the main menu (This is for ITG, assuming we use it) we first go to options, and change the game mode to event mode. This means you have no âroundsâ of songs, and you can keep going until you decide to quit. After that is done, we go to Dance Mode, and two players. The song list will pop up. The gym department has a memory card that already has all the songs unlocked. We will do two songs. We can either have each person choose their own song for the round, or we can do random to save time. Each person will go to the easy difficulty (assuming we have a lot of beginner people). After each song, we see whoever gets the most Fantastics/Excellents. This is up to all of you, although for beginners, a fantastic would be hard to get, because you have to get absolute perfect timing for it, so I recommend we use excellents, since they have a slightly larger timing window. Weâll have someone keeping records, and whoever gets the most fantastics/excellents at the end of the song wins the round. Or, we could go by whoever gets the highest combo in the song, which is showed on the results screen after the song.
Rules
-No modifiers. (Not really necessary for the level of difficulty)
-No pressing start to clear the results. Must be given OK by person doing the records. Doing this will result in disqualification from the round.
-No taunting or intimidating others (saying youâre better than them) will be given a warning, then shall be disqualified after that. DDR is a civil game.
-No trying to mess the other person up. Will result in disqualification
-If you are not present when your name is called, you will be disqualified.
-Nick Taylor may not enter. (me. Im the best in our school. It wouldnt be fair if I entered).
People Weâll Need
Actually. I think weâll only need just a few people. One to write down records, and one or two to supervise and announce whoâs up next.
Things Weâll Need To Vote On
First of all, to see if weâre going to this this. If yes: (Please not we may need to talk about each of these things)
-Who will help out with it
-What prize to give out (Seriously we need a prize or else people wonât sign up)
-Who will provide the prize
-Let people choose their own songs or if we just do random.
-Maximum sign up limit or not
-Difficulty categories (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert) and if weâll have enough people to do those
-Admission fee
-Do we use timing (Excellent/Fantastics) or maximum combo
-If we use timing, do we use Excellents or Fantastics
-Do we use ITG or DDR Extreme 2 (The one we should use if we donât use ITG. I recommend ITG)
-Will it be necessary to extend the school party time a 1/2 hour to an hour to allow for tournament time, and if yes, find out if thatâs allowed.
-Add/Remove/Change rules as necessary and approve them
-And not to brag, but I would like to give a small performance at the beginning or end of the tournament. Maybe to inspire people to do their best? I already have my songlist set up: Fly With Me as a warm up (difficulty-moderate 9) Kagami- (moderate 10) Tribal Style (Easy 10) Charlene (Easy 11) and if thereâs time, Tension (Hard time). I think if we did this, we do it at the end of the tournament so we donât have to cut the tournament short.
Anyway, those are pretty much all the details. This tournament would cost no money at all, but we should be able to make $50+. I think if everything works out, itâll turn out great, and DDR will be popularized even more.
Oh and btw, a school party is 2 hours long. Long enough? _________________

How do you make money if you charge nothing? And if the tourney is big enough, which is doubtful based on what you have, but if it is, 2 hours is not nearly enough time. _________________
Wait, what's a D.D.R?
I love that question. |

-What prize to give out (Seriously we need a prize or else people wonât sign up)
Uhh...maybe redistribute the entry fees? Thats how every tournament I've seen has done it (and also sponsership, but seeing as this is a home version tournament at a school, I doubt that sponsership will happen).
-Let people choose their own songs or if we just do random.
Either random, or one player chooses one song, the other chooses the other song. If a third song is needed (as in, they both won one round) do random then.
-Maximum sign up limit or not
No, unless you are extremely worried about time
-Difficulty categories (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert) and if weâll have enough people to do those
Don't do it unless you know you have people that can do those difficulties.
-Admission fee
For prizes
-Do we use timing (Excellent/Fantastics) or maximum combo
Why not just use the nice percentage at the top of the screen? Unless your pads give a lot of random misses, I don't see a problem with that. Thats how the ITG2 tournament I entered a while ago did it.
-If we use timing, do we use Excellents or Fantastics
Both (Maybe even Fantastics times 2 + Excellents so that people have more incentive to get more Fantastics)
-Do we use ITG or DDR Extreme 2 (The one we should use if we donât use ITG. I recommend ITG)
ITG would be easier to score, unless you went with timing and used Perfects on DDR Extreme 2
-And not to brag, but I would like to give a small performance at the beginning or end of the tournament.
If at all, end of tourney. If you are pressed on time, leave it at the end. It might be good to do, it might not be. At my school, people liked watching me do hard songs on it, but some people might not.
Thats my opinion on everything. |

we're going to vote for an admission fee.
