This has been plaguing me for the longest time. Is there some history or reason why BeForU's "Dive" sounds a heck a lot like "Dive to the Night"? Obviously they're not the same but the melodies are very similiar and could easily be mistaken by a passerby.

Lots of artists do songs that sound similar to other songs of their own. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Also, note that at the end of "Dive into the night" sounds identical to "Can't Stop Fallin' In Love".

Maybe it's because both singers/groups are directed by the same music writer, Naoki Maeda. BeForU was made by him for group songs, and Kosaka Riyu is his J-pop/J-techno single singer.

Here's a few steps for you:

1. Go to Wikipedia.com or Answers.com
2. Type "Naoki Maeda" in the search box
3. Hit 'Enter'
4. Read what it gives you
5. Be surprised to find that BeForU has their own CDs, and that they've been under Naoki's care for a while. Meanwhile, Kosaka Riyu began her debut when DDR started.

You can also look up "Dance Dance Revolution." Just try searching the web. And remember...

Ok, now I'm totally confused... they DO sound like the same song to me, except one is a remix of the other.

A lot of ddr songs are various remixes of other ddr songs. I'll admit that a lot of remixes do end up sounding incredibly well because the original versions of the songs definetely sound like they can be tweeked around a bit to make a better sounding version of the song.

Practically with every song that naoki has had a hand in creating for ddr, you can definetely pick out various elements within the song to know that naoki has done it.

It would be same for songs done by artists like dj TAKA and TAQ.
