There's always someone out there that you need to beat. This one kid I know always is saying "I could do better w/ metal pads" when we're at a youth group w/ those soft pads....We usually get B's & A's on Standard on those & I don't complain. Everyone else there, well.......they're REALLY bad....So he's the only good person their, besides me....He gets on my nerves, though. He's shorter & younger, which makes him even more of an opponet.
Anyways, do you have any rivals? |

Yeah, theres this one kid. for some reason everytime I go to the arcades I see him there. Stalker.. I dont know anyways this fat kid always tells me that I suck at DDR and he makes such a big deal out of it.. even though I dont.. Maybe the next time I go I'll take a handgun with me then those words coming out of his mouth ("YOU SUCK") I will never hear again ;)..
Oh by the way 2 weeks ago the kid fell off the metal pad
So much for being a better player then me lol _________________

Yeah, if I play someone who I have a chance at beating, then they're my rival until the round's over. _________________

Actually, I'm gonna give a shout-out to RevenG Survivor Max. I've never met him, but his scores are ridiculously close to mine, so I guess that counts as a rival. _________________

If I play againest someone who isn't like "YOU'RE GONNA GET OWNED" or something like that, then I don't consider them a rival. For example:
When I went on a trip, I got to play againest this guy at DDR who was the same level as I (Standard), only he was a Bar Huger. When we tried a heavy, he seriously said "If we fail, we fail together!".....Kinda cheezy, but still, I wouldn't consider him a rival.....besides, I was better than him! |

Awesome, do I live near you?
EDIT: And BTW, I guess I have some more hidden inspiration, given I'm younger and shorter (I'm 14 and 5'8" and if I'm correct you said you were 16 and 6' something). I get most of my inspiration and tricks from here, and no I'm not the author of the blog nor submitter of the videos. _________________

My close friend is my only real rival at DDR. He's played for over a year, while I've played barely a month, and already I'm close to him in terms of skill.
When I pass Tsugaru or R&P on Maniac I think I will have officially become better than him, if that ever happens . _________________

Not really, if only because there's nobody where I play that's at a similar skill level to me. Not to say that I'm better than all of them - that's definitely not true. Everyone there seems to either be able to pass every stepchart on the game, or only plays light/standard. I, on the other hand, can pass pretty much everything up to 8s... and the easier half of the 9s... and that's about it. There just doesn't seem to be anyone around there...
(On another note, I probably could pass Sakura if I worked at it a bit - but the machine I play on 95% of the time isn't unlocked. Need to find someone to fix that.) |

One crazy cat at our arcade says he is better than I am. I played him twice today, and destroyed him. When you AA every song you play and the other person does not even FC the song, you usually know who wins.
Oh, that was all fun and games. The kid is actually pretty good. Only been playing 4 months and is doing 8 footers. He keeps trying Max300 but he has not passed CSFIL(SM). _________________

Everyone tries to make me their rival and usually I pass them off as nublets. Yes, I'm competitive and I have decent scores to back it up, but most people aren't worth my time competing against because they're either too good or they suck.
I consider my rivals as the people who inspire me to play better. I pick and choose my rivals carefully because I don't want to be the whiny nublet who brags about her scores all the time to people who don't give a crap.
The last person who was sort of my "rival" was really great at ITG/DDR, and we were virtually tied in Recall rankings when we both were more or less solely DDR players. That, and she had the same outlook about the game as me -- we were both quite competitive, but at the end of the day, we cut the DDR talk, chilled, and had a good time. That, and we rarely even talked about our scores; discovering each other's scores on Recall when we visited it and silently submitting new scores to one-up the other person was all the egging on our rivalry needed, and we both improved our skill level pretty fast when we were prepping for the same tournaments. |

Oh and his girlfriend gave me a dirty look after she saw the look of feeling stupid/disappointment on his face .. haha hoe ;) _________________

I really have no rivals, because almost everyone who enters tournaments where I live is better than me. See, even though I can live through all nines (except So Deep), I can only live through one ten (Sakura). Almost everyone who enters the tournaments can at least live through Paranoia Survivor, so in that respect they're way better than me. There is, however, one person who I want to play really badly, because I want to know for sure if she's better than me. (I'll bet she isn't ) Let's hope that we'll be paired up next tournament! _________________

Anyone who is better than me I technically consider to be a rival...I like that though because it inspires me to play better. _________________
