I guess the AIM thread has somewhat of a purpose, as it's "share your funnies lolol". But the the "what music are you listening to" thread seems to be especially pointless. It's not "discuss your music" or anything that could really stimulate some sort of conversation - it's just "post what song is on right now". So we've got pages and pages and pages of people typing and no one else listening. Not that I really care, it just seems it's less "random" and more "pointless".

Can explain to me how the "post what music you're listening to" thread is any different than "tell us what's in your mouth"?

I believe the real question is "does Random Chat have a purpose?"

:D

Sure. It's where you discuss anything that doesn't relate to DDR (or video games or images or blah blah yeah i know).

I thougth word games were not allowed on Random Chat yet that 1 word story game has expanded to 11 pages as of right now.

I usually just not read the threads, but it is odd that a policy that was enforced in the past is not enforce now... or has it really become a policy of the past?

Kinda like how the introductions thread in Chit-Chat is for people to post once - thinking that someone actually READS that thread - and then continues posting elsewhere.

An introduction thread is just to put all of the new player's introductions into one place. When there's an epidemic of "hey guys, listen to what song I'm listening to" threads, it's worth reconsidering. But right now, there's a bunch of these 50+ page threads that serve absolutely no purpose other than to pad peoples postcounts. If postwhoring isn't allowed, it's not allowed. But if you're going to allow it here, you've got to allow it everywhere. It's only fair.

Operation of a gun is illegal in my city (I suppose, could be wrong). Yet there's a rifle range and shooting club.

If gun discharge isn't allowed, it's not allowed. But if you're going to allow it here, you've got to allow it everywhere. It's only fair.

A dramatic rewording, I know, but I kinda think of it as "disaster mitigation". Different areas of the forums carry different flavors to them. I'm stricter on the rules in most of my areas because they're more informational and discussion-oriented than "fun" and "boredom relief".

People are going to break the rules no matter what, and rather than always punishing them for it, I think it's better than we just have a more relaxed place where they can communicate (more or less) the way they want. If it doesn't bother anyone else, then it's fine, and I think in RC (again, I don't go there), the aim is more to stop flagrant abuses than anything. Like a thread titled "I just stubbed my toe!". Who gives a damn?

However, if the original poster of "I stubbed my toe" while playing DDR, it would be an injury and therefore a physical result of playing and should go into the Gameplay forum, right!?

Yeah I know, stating the obvious. Actually I wanted to mention that I occasionally read the introductions thread, so at least one person does... nerd.gif

That's the thread that crossed the line. I could deal with the other threads. I even liked the one word story game for a little bit (of course only slightly). Now there's just too many.

Perhaps you were confused by that other thread, but this isn't supposed to be a report thread.
