Gah, I hope this is a window for a more diverse type of music for DDR. I know DDR is very much techno-pop jpop stuff, but would diversity hurt? I'd like to see something new here, not rehashed songs of old DDR songs(Isn't that what you people cry about with Max's and Paranoia's?)

Hmmm, the winners only get 250.00?? Way to go KONAMI!! Way to go!!!

When you realize how much money they are going to make on the game, you are getting ripped off. You would only get bragging rights.

But a positive, good luck to all who enter!!!!E1.gif

Yeah, how horrible. Being paid (regardless of how much or how little) to get publicity. Maybe the winner should have to pay to use DDR as an advertisement for their music skills.

Monetary gain or not, the winner will still get quite a bit of publicity for his music if he or she wins.

Edit: Oh, right! Almost forgot ... the winner keeps his ownership and rights to the music, too. So they're not really buying the song or its rights from the winner, either, which would be a different story.

Hey all you DDR Freakz!

I know it doesn't seem like $250 is a lot of money, but as was already mentioned...you keep all the rights to your song. Consider this as an opportunity to add this to your resume without having to give up one of your tracks. When I started, I did a lot of remix work for free...just to get my name out there. The bigger my resume grew, the more money I could request for my efforts. You gotta start somewhere, right?

For everyone who will be participating, I look forward to hearing what you've got. A word of advice...focus on production! Don't submit material that sounds like it's been regurgitated. Remember, there are a LOT of people here and abroad who want tracks that will MOVE THEM. Cool?

Thanks everyone! I hope to see someone from the DDR fold in the game!

Cheerz,

OMG! Even though I knew this was legit, Midihead's post just officially proved it.

Well Midihead, I'm looking forward to you judging my tracks later this year E4.gif

Ok, I'm kinda serious about this, I have skill, I probably won't make it, but I'm definitely entering. I'ved had a techno song in my head now for weeks that I was sad about it never being in DDR...

...now here's my unbelievably small chance to realize my dream...

Go for it. I'd do it too, but I don't have any software I could use for this sort of thing. >.<

Cheerz,

I'm sorry. If I win, I refuse to take the money for it. It would be way to much of an honor to have music in DDR!

The thing that sucks for me being a free lance composer is that I deal mostly with writing sheet music for choir-band-orchestra and little time working with a synthesizer. No way I could turn in sheet music is there? ha ha. I'll figure it out on my friends copy of Reason, and I'll make it hot. Hope you like neo-classical inspired music. laugh.gif

Midihead, if you are reading this, do remember that DDRFreak is 90% retarded people and whatever they say is solely out of a fanboy's thought.

There is no thought process in them, so they will say retarded things ala DDR Super Nova thread. 1900+ posts and 200 of them are actually discussing the game with thought.

With that said, the winner will not be from DDRFreak.

My prediction for this is that most of the competition will be armed with a consumer version of Fruity Loops, Acid or Reason combined with a cheap keyboard synthesizer.

Jesus Christ, finding the winners of this contest is going to be like Where's Waldo times 100,000.

It's possible that the winner could be from DDRFreak. If 200 of them in the thread talk about the topic, then that means there ARE people here that know what they're talking about.

Oh, and Zimmer

Not ALL of us are using sub-par programs and synthesizers. The stuff I use is completely professional expensive gear used by major record label artists. And frankly, the more people with a 3 octave keyboard and Fruity Loops, the better it is for the people like me that payed the astronomical amount of money for the REAL equipment because it raises are chances.

That being said, I'm not saying that I'm going to win. The chances are 1 in well, a VERY VERY BIG NUMBER! But I will produce tracks that sound DDR quality.

I very much dislike the naysaying in this thread. What is the point of making fun of amateur music? Sure, with professional equipment, an idea can be more refined, but who cares, if you've got a damn good idea and can make the least of tools (i.e. fruity loops) work? If you've got a good idea, put work into it! Use what you can, and when you're satisfied with your work, be proud of it.

It takes no work to be a connoisseur of music. You can pass judgment all you want, but if it's liked, it's liked! You can get more professional software and hardware to work with, but if you're not talented, you won't make anything work.

People who have no experience in this field, their opinions are negative. The people who do have experience in this field are optimistic about this. I'm sure the people who are serious about this are going to ignore the negativity anyway, but this is what breaks down communities: unconstructive criticism. There's no need for it.

To the entrants, I wish you the best of luck, put your creativity into everything, and if it doesn't win, hey, you've got a hot song regardless. =D

Some people can't afford astronomical amounts of money for pro gear.

It's mostly talent and creativity that counts.
