I just got my Vortz V.6 ignition pad today and want to modify it before I use it. I'm hearing that people stick a wooden board inside the pad instead of the foam inserts. I read on the ignition mod FAQ on this site that particle board is the best instead of plywood. However, when I brought the subject with my dad, he said that particle board is a lot weaker than plywood. So my question to anyone who's modded their pad, is what is the strongest wood to use that won't tear up the inside of the pad?

Particle board is weaker when it comes to applications that could potentially make it crumble, such as drilling or driving in nails close to the edges, but it will easily stand up to being used to mod a pad. Partical board does not warp and bend like cheap plywood does, so that is a big advantage, as plywood will readily under pressure and slight humidity if it does not have a finish.
