has dying pads, tips on repair?

first off, i believe this is my first post here, so i'd like to say hello!

now.. i have three dance pads.

two are soft pads that i've had for nearly a year. after about 5 or 6 months of occasional use, the arrows started getting stuck down. i could just turn the PS2 on and the up, down, and left arrows would be stuck down, messing w/menus and also meaning i can't step on those arrows cause they're already activated. that was about the time i learned soft pads are bad x.x

next i got a foam pad off of eBay. i've had it for a few months, and have put it through alot of abuse, usually from 2 songs to a few hours of almost daily playing. it's showing the affects. the plastic inserts underneath the left and bottom arrows are moving so they aren't in the right places now. the vinyl layer on top has rips forming over all of the directional arrows. other than that (and because one of the plastic inserts is now halfway in the middle of the pad, it feels weird to stand in the middle..) it still works fine.

so i want to fix these pads up, and i had two ideas on what to do, but i wouldn't be sure how to go about either or if there are better ideas. for my foam pad, i thought i'd keep using it until the layer on top is so torn up that's unusable, from where i'd rip it off, duct tape the plastic inserts into their correct places, and then somehow transfer the vinyl layer from one of my soft pads onto the foam pad, seal it up, maybe put some special plastic layer on top, and have a newer stronger more durable pad.

the other idea was to take a soft pad and mount it to some wood. i thought maybe to opening the pad up, buying wood the about the size of the pad (about 1/2" x 36" x 40" plywood), then taping/gluing/both down the various buttons to the wood, maybe putting cardboard/plastic on top of the arrows, then putting the vinyl layer on top of the wood, to create a wooden dance pad (but i'm not sure exactly how comfertable that'd be to play on, or how durable)

so, any ideas on repair? or should i do what my friends do.. buy expensive pads from the local store, quickly use them and destroy them within warrenty time, get them exchanged, and repeat?

I had a lot of probs with my redoctane 3.0 pad and arrows i got a board and put under it the results were amazing.

As far as the arrows sticking and stuff i am not sure it may or may not help with a board but hey anything is worth a try.
If you get another pad look for maybe a place that you can get an extended warrenty on it. I know best buy has extended warrentys on a lot of stuff but not sure about the dance pads.

honestly, get a new pad, and i don't think eBay is the best solution.
it's like buying worn pads, but it is.

cobalt fluxes are good.

They just shipped my Cobalt Flux today YAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOO and the only reason i could get it right away is because of that little plastic card LOL
