Sorry if it is...But, I really have to give it to you people who are having so much trouble with all these pads from 30$to 350$ and you are still sticking with DDR, or anyother dancing game.
I have only had my homebuilt pads and have never had any problems. Mine work great, are tough enough for every day use and work like a charm. If i would have had all these problems you people are having I would have never liked playing DDR for longer than about 10minutes.
You just need to spend the money and make your own. It is well worth it in the long run.
Heck I build and sell mine and make a little money on the side. Gives you something to do and something to be proud of as well.
Quit buying all these expensive, crap pads out there. This includes the AF, and the CF pads. |

well said...
my homebuilt has lasted about a year now, and im about ready to build a second since my friends RO 2.0 broke..
anyway, i cant say how well the metal pads are vs the homebuilt, but i know its a heck of alot easier to fix them when/if something goes bad on your OWN built thing _________________

I just dont know if I have the skills to build one. I think you know what ur talkin about, so Ive got some questions
1 How much would it cost?
2 which plan should I use?
3 Since I really dont build many things, wont it take me forever and wouldnt I have trouble doing all the wiring and stuff ?
4 Did you enjoy building it?
Thanx for the help _________________

Dude, its not that hard to build a pad. It just seems like it is. I enjoy building them. Like I said, it gives me something to do and I make some cash from selling them.
I didnt really go by anyones design that I know of. I just kind of did things my way and it works quite well. With my pads I can AAA and AA songs no problem...That is if my feet feel like it..LOL
If you need some help I can help you out a little. Just email me at

Well you will need some tools, but you dont have to solder anything. I can do a whole pad and not solder anything. If you can twist a wire, or tape a wire or crimp a wire, you dont have to solder a wire.
You will need some tools though, but im sure someone you know has some?? |

well my dad has some, and i could probably get the rest from my brother in law..so if i built a mat, i would need no soldering?...hmm, this sounds very awesome. would it still work as good? it wouldnt make any major difference would it? and do you think a 14 year old could do this, most likely with no help, except the instructions off the net, because no one is interested in helping me build this, and i've been wanting to. |

it would be highly appreciated if you go post the steps you took to create your pad, the process that you went through, and any pictures you have. seeing how different people's pads are built help others who are creating their own designs, copying someone else's, or simply modding.
plus, if you post it up, you may have less people asking you questions because you'll have answered many of them already. |

This is a VERY good point (to original post). If you think you lack the whatevers to build a pad from the ground up, I'd recommend chucking the cash out for a TX-1000 (the TX-2000 isnt worth more just for that bar) and MODDING THE HELL OUT OF IT. The modding goes much further than just sheet metal contacts. New wiring internally, a real control box, etc. I have done this with a pair of 2000's and theyre great. Much more accurate than a CF of the same age. |
