Don't be dumb. Seriously. Roxor was pretty generous with things like the ITG2 previews (Konami did a little of that on US mixes, only because US mixes were way behind). Putting every song from ITG1 and ITG2 makes ITG1 obsolete as a home version. No one would buy it after ITG2's release. They might as well just give away free copies of ITG1 to anyone who wants one. They're a business, they are in this to profit, and if nothing else, they need to at least break even to continue the series.

That's a great point. That answer's my question about the songlist

I think ITG3 AC should wipe DDR:SN out of the water.
Roxor has been listening to us word for word, and hopefully some things will be fixed.
But awesome, I finally get my SPin Chicken at home. |

The same goes with Konami. SN will most likely have the advantage in the arcades because it is highly anticipated, seeing the last mix was released years ago. _________________

Oh god I hope not. And I'm saying this in favor of PIU. _________________

Yeah, PIU (at least to me) feels like a wholly separate beast from DDR or ITG. It'd be cool to borrow some of PIU's stepchart elements, though, because those are wicked sick. (Like that one song, I think it's Give Me All Your Love, that has the center hold a freeze the entire song, and then you use hands and feet to hit the arrows around it.) _________________

Actually youre thinking of Join the party on Crazy mode... I wish the nightmare chart had that element except holding both centers but they decided not to do that.... That stepchart is so crazy because you have to hold that center freeze and hit everything else....
and Ill Give you all my love has some good stepchart elements as well... in fact if put into ITG steps the crazy chart would probably be a 12 on ITG... But theres an element on the rcazy chart where you hold 2 outer freezes and the notes slow down and make you hit that 3 hand plants oin the center then they speed back upand make you jump to hit the 2 outer arrows on a freeze before you hit all those crazy streams... I have only been able to go 3/4 of the way through the song because of those streams... but ITG could get some better Ideas for stes on their doubles charts be watching some of the charts on Pumps NIghtmare mode...
some of those step elements would be great to see in itg... studd like Habanera 1 expert but with 1/16 strech runs _________________

Oh yes, MJ. please make a Doubles chart where you hold 1P Right and 2P Left throughout the entire song (or most of the song) and the other arrows are hands. It will be awesome. |

No no, make one where you have to hold the 1P left and the 2P right the entire song. Now THAT would be interesting to watch. _________________

As far as the "no way they should put all ITG1 + ITG2 songs on ITG2CS" suggestion...
...think about it for a moment. Consider this hypothetical situation.
In The Groove 1 = ~70 songs. MSRP drops to $20 when ITG2 is released.
In The Groove 2 = all ~135 songs from ITG1 and ITG2 plus a few ITG3 previews. Full MSRP of $40.
Is there a reason to buy ITG1 any more? Why yes, yes there is. If you don't own any dance games, and are looking to try one, a $20 price tag looks good, and you don't see PS2 DDR with a $20 price tag, do you?
$20 price tags sell TONS of games that wouldn't sell otherwise. I'd be really surprised if even ONE person here can honestly say that they haven't tried out at least one $20 game mainly because it was $20. ITG2 can proudly proclaim on the back of the box that it has all songs from ITG1 in it, and that STILL doesn't mean that ITG1 sales would drop to zero, because that $20 price tag is going to be selling it day in and day out. "hey, look, I'm twenty bucks!"
Remember this: for the most part, RoXoR has three potential audiences here. Number one is us. As far as most of us reading this: we know and love ITG, and we bought ITG1 already and we're going to buy ITG2, and nothing will change that, including this idea. Number two is Person Who Likes That Other Dance Game But Never Tried ITG1. They will likely buy ITG2 when it comes out, because it's newer, and they tend to buy the latest. Number three is Casual Gamer Who's Never Played A Dance Game, which is possibly the largest of these three groups. It's quite likely that they're going to go for the $20 price tag on ITG1.
So: ITG1 CS sales will continue. ITG2 CS sales will increase, because for someone who knows they're interested in dance games already, getting 135+ songs and 1000+ stepcharts is a freaking amazing value. RoXoR is breaking convention and challenging the status quo, just as they did when they released ITG in the first place. The players are thrilled because they get an arcade-perfect conversion: the complete ITG experience--with virtually unlimited replay value--on a single disc. Everyone wins.
Disconnected Disco Double has enough weird Hands for me, thanks... =) _________________

call it the KaBullshit Course. _________________

You need to look a little more carefully. MAX US and MAX 2 US can regularly be found for $20 new. The price sometimes goes back up (to $30) and then down again periodically, but PS2 DDR's have been available at that budget price before. Some friends of mine, in fact, picked up MAX 2 US new a few months ago for the very nice price of $20.
I also think the inclusion of at least a selection of ITG 1 songs in ITG 2 CS is not so far fetched, but for different reasons. The clues seem to be pointing towards a PC/Mac release, and not a console release (or at least not a PS2 release). Why would Kyle Ward say "we didn't say PS2" unless it was definitely NOT slated for PS2? He'd either confirm it was for PS2 or say, "for PS2 and possibly other platforms." The announcement of ITG for PC/Mac a few weeks ago lends more credence to this idea. With that said, there hasn't been a PC/Mac version of ITG before, so the ITG 1 songs would be all new to this different market anyway, and a bonus for ITG fans who will have to switch platforms for ITG 2. _________________

in all honesty i think putting it out for the PC/Mac would be a horrible idea. Why? because anyone who knows anything about stepmania, or how to work google knows you can just download stepmania, an ITG2 theme and all the songs quite easily. There's no point. Plus with a lack of good pads that work on PC (except mayeb the afer burner) whos really going to want to play it on the PC?. I thinka ps2/xbox release would be a good idea, im personally in favour of the xbox sicne itd probably get rid of alot of the load time problems |
