My Lik-Sang TX1000 mod.

So...my friend's mother unknowingly bought this horrible metal pad a while ago. After a few weeks, there was a short on the X button and two wires breaking, rendering down and left useless. It sat in a basement for monhs, when i coaxed him to sell it to me cheap(like 10 bucks). I fixed the two broken wires, and lived without the X button, just no ITG. Then the two arrows I fixed shorted.

After that, I decided just to completly redo the pad- use the frame, and thats about it. By re-doing it, I would only not just make it work, but also work much better and be more sensitive before. The way they are factory built makes it so you practically have to hit the center of the arrow to register a step, hich is very hard on the fater, more difficult songs. The way I wanted mine was to have sensors in each corner, and multiple of them.

First, I needed supplies...I bought a PSX pad at gamestop for 3 dollars, and two buttons and wires form Radioshack for a total of about $8.

So, I dismantle the controller, and begin soldering the wires for use on the pad.

The inside of the arrow-the screws are the contacts, and the green wire goin to the metal panel is the ground.

Here's what all the wiring looks like on the underside of the pad.

and here it is almost assembeled-

I still have a little to do, just attach the start, select, x, and o buttons to the top od the pad, and get nicer arrows^_^

So, after a test-run, it works fine.

So, whatya yall think? It cost in total of about $60.

Do you think I (13 going-on 14) and my handyman dad can do it? I was wondering because i might get a TX2000/TX6000 off of lik-sang sometime and given almost everyone mods it, I'm seriously thinking about it (I'm prolably not getting it anytime soon because of the Beatmania US realease).

The mod was relativly simple, but if your going to buy a new pad, just get redoctane's afterburner.

this looks good, but the only thing im worried about is the screws under the arrows...any amount of anything under there wil cause broken arrows eventually. I'd use sheet metal or something of the like.

What crappy pad was it and how much was it?? That idea of re-doing a crappy pad is a great idea and I might look into doing it.

I was wondering how the wiring goes under the pad. "i'm new to moding

" is it possible someone could help me understand how the wiring works and how to make the sensors much better on the TX1000.
