Yeah, I'm a chick who is very competitive.
I hate it when I lose, or when people "show me up".
I already know I need to get over it, but it's just how I am.
And as for the Legend of Max thing, I can't really practice things like that at home.
I've been using the bar lately, and it just stuck with me.
I have no bar at home so when I play, I either slouch over, or just fall off the mat.
And my problem is, I can't move fast at all.
Could you suggest any songs from DDR or ITG that could help me improve my speed? |

depends, what home versions do you have, and what kind of pads do you own?
oh i thought of another one! I hate it when people find it necassary to drip sweat all over the pad when they aren't actually doing a stage... like right aftr a stage and the lean over and rather than wipe the sweat off, they wait for it to drip onto the pad... and then the pad gets all sticky and squeaky and it ruins everything for everyone. |

You know, I've seen this "argument" a lot over the years. It's an extremely common reaction, upon witnessing anyone of greater skill than one's self at a particular activity, to declare, "Well, at least I have a life." Does anyone actually consider this to be valid reasoning? The judgement that the more-abled individual must not "have a life" (whatever that means) is usually based solely on his superiority to the aggrieved person at one particular activity, without any actual knowledge of the person's life... hardly a rational basis for such broad condemnation. We humans have a desire to believe we're the best at what we do, and are sometimes loathe to admit that others might just be more naturally gifted in some areas, and so, the line of "reasoning" goes, "he must not really be better than me at this activity, he's just devoted his entire life to practicing it and must therefore have a less meaningful/varied/loving/fulfilling life than I do." This is absurd, of course, but it can be a comfort to the ego. It's difficult for we humans to acknowledge that someone is better than us at something without concocting a fantasy story about how we're actually better than the other person "overall". The temptation to fall into this fallacy is strong.
It's extremely specious reasoning. Let's just put this "argument" out to pasture once and for all. |
i have my brother who acts the same way.....everytime he's sees an ITG video of (ex: kevbo tri-starring something) he'll say "NO LIFE" . funny is that all my brother does all day is go to bed at 5:00 am, wake up at 5:00 pm, and he's on the pc all day. he's used to play, but since he cannot pass PSMO anymore and he can't pass pandy hard, he kinda gives up on everything. and his excuse for ppl becoming better than him, is that they don't have a life. this really pisses me off.
from what i can see, most of the good players play a lot less than ppl think. it's all about playing experience. you don't really play 5 hours a day, 7 days a week to be good. i play like 3 times a week, while going to school, in hardcore taekwondo training, and working. when i see ppl better than me, i keep my playing habits and i try harder then before. _________________

I have DDRMax, Max2, and ITG for PS2.
And I'm not taking it out on anyone.
The thread is things you hate.. and I just listed them.
Yeah, when people sweat on the pad it's pretty gross.
But I sweat like a man so I shouldn't say anything. |

I hate it when people ask you "How you know what arrow to hit?" If you're looking at me play, and lookin at the screen, the answer is self-explanitory. I did have one person ask me "Do you look at the lights"? |

Well if you're playing on a hard difficulty, people can't read it.
Hahaha, my one friend was like
"It pisses me off when people watch us. Why do they want to!? It's just a damn video game. 'Oooh, look at the pretty colored lights..'" |

That was kind of random and irrelevant.
I hate when people play the game and suck at it. |

Holy crap yeah.
How could I forget that one.
I have a couple cute storys for you.
I was playing Techno Motion back in the day.. and this like 10 year old kid was screaming "YOU SUCK. GET OFF" I told him to shut up, and he didn't. I told him to shut the frick up, and he said "Make me!" so I jumped off the pad and choked him. \=
And another kid was stepping on the down arrow while I was playing DDR.
You'd think after a couple times of me stomping on his foot, he'd move. But of course he didn't.
So eventually I just turned around and punched him in the head.
I take my dancing games very seriously. |

I can understand you not liking people messing up your game, that's just human nature, but hitting a kid who's about 10, that's kinda extreme, though I gotta admit, he deserved it.
Anyway, I hate people who think they're elite, but hate anyone better than them (myself and a large majority of my friends). _________________

Ugh! I can't stand that either! Other than that, I hate it when somebody (usually a DDR n00b) doesn't understand the line "system", tries to come up and play, and gets mad when you tell them that there's a line. _________________

I often see people go up to a person they don't know who is playing DDR on their own, and get on the second pad and start dancing along in a really exaggerated manner, stomping as hard as they can. _________________

I can't stand it when someone leaves after the first or second song to go get a drink (there's a drinking fountain at the arcade I go to) and they use up most or all of the timer and you have to just stand there and wait the whole time. grrrrrrrrrrrr |

I hate it when you're the next person in line to play, but then there's the one guy who comes around in puts in their tokens to play, and never come back. Seeing as how I know I'm not in the older more serious group that plays DDR... I'm 14 (I can still do heavy) I'm scared half to death when I... steal their game, so I end up leaving my money for the game on the arcade machine in case they wanna jump me or something. I still get a free game when they don't show up
And I hate it when you've been playing for a while and someone wants to play Versus with you AND THEY KNOW YOU'RE WIPED OUT and the don't even let you pick, so the pick all 10 footers (Not bag or Sakura either) and you have to play on Standard so you don't pass out. (True story, that happened to me once and I played on Heavy, yeah, I got dehydrated and nearly passed out in BJ's when I left.) |
