Hello fellow DDRers, I've been playing just less than a month, have obtanied the home verson for my X-Box and have 2 soft pads. However I learned on the arcade and have been unable yo adjust to the soft pads.
I would like to move up to a metal pad. I'm just not sure which. I've read the CF (Colbaltflux?) is the best but from what I've read it's PS1/PS2 only or at least thats what the website says. I would actully like to get one that can go multi system, as I'm sure DDR will be brought over to the next gen consoles and I'm planning on a PS3 (assuming it's backwards compatible with old controller styles).
So what's the best bang for my buck?
Also since I can only post once a day for the time being, any links to a guide on crossovers and stepping and all the lingo etc, etc would be greatly appricated.
Thanks for the help =) _________________

The thing I don't like about the CF pad is that the arrows are the same level as the rest of the pad, and I would like the arcade feel where the arrows are lower. Most arcade style pads I've seen don't have that but come with a suporrt bar, I don't need a suporrt bar though, if I use it, it just tends to me more of a hassle than anything.
I will need a pad that can last thought, I play about 4-6 hours a day, sometimes more if I get time off work.
If the is something you can get to have the arrows lower then the rest of the pad on the CF I might go for that. Also some people have reffered me to the Afterbunner but is it really that iffy on lasting? Also would like a pad that has a sensativity close to that of the arcade feel.
Anything that fits the profile? Money is not an issue. _________________

Cobaalt Flux does have an Arcade Mod Kit available for $25 US (shipping extra, and if ordered at the same time as the pad, it comes pre-installed). This can be found under the accessories category. |

The TX-4000 is a good bet for a starter metal pad. You could always go for the Blueshark if you don't want to buy a convertor with a CF, but thats like rediculously expensive. Then theres always that rare Konami Arcade Pad that goes for like $2000 or so .
I'd say, if you think you're gonna be dancing for a while, get a CF and a good converter (Or wait until theres an Xbox control box). Otherwise get a TX-4000. |

Hey. I just wanted to suggest the red octain ignition pad, it has higher arrows then the rest of the pad, and they are really sensitive. I know I'm a basic member, but I play on heavy and the pad still seems to be working just fine. Nothing has gone wrong with it yet, though I have only had it for a short while.
I got 3 of the soft pads, and they worked, for about 40 days, and then only somtimes the arrows would work. I don't know what i did wrong with them. I don't think I did anything wrong. I folded it right, and I only weigh about 70 pounds, so I don't think I was pressing to hard on them. Ugh! It's so annoying when they break in the middle of a song!
Back to the red octain. It somtimes will be too sensitive, and it will be pressing the back arrow when you are just stepping on the first little part of it. Sometimes that gets annoying but for the most part, I really am happy with it and I would really strongly suggest it like I said before. It really works on heavy because with the flat pads, you somtimes can never find the arrows because you are momving around so much, and you might be not even standing on the pad, but you don't know because you can't feel the arrows. With the red octain, if you start falling off, you can always feel around for the arrows and just get back on it again which I really like about it.
I have DDR Extreme , and some of the songs are pretty fast, like drop out and Wild Rush is a little fast toward the end, and on heavy, drop out is killer hard, Wild rush is a little hard but not too bad, and even when I play drop out on heavy, nothing happens to the arrows. |

Vance has already said that a new control box that supports xbox will be out very very very soon. Like I'm thinking this month soon. But i also know there will probably be no official announcement before it comes out...it'll just be like "shablam!! new control box!!!" _________________

For anyone looking for the ultimate in a portable DDR controller - look no further. I have access to a fully "Programmable" Arcade-Style (arrow tiles inset 4 mm) controller with total compatibility with the "big 3's" consoles (PS2/XBox/GameCube). If money is NOT, i repeat NOT an issue, and you must possess the "best in class" - I can hook you up. |
