In this case, it's also fine if you wanna name her Sakura because you like the song. It's just your daughter's gonna get the crap beat out of her once people realize why she got her name.

personally i considers this msg bad 2wards me bcause i happen 2be african american and ur msg is basically a stereotype 2wards me as if i should give muh child a ghetto ignorant name like that. see i like 2 be different when it comes 2 stuff like that i rather be creative than being like everyone else.

Giving your child an asain name because of a song is not creative, thats stupid.

Sakura is a generally a common name to begin with. So what's the problem?

IMO, you should go for it. I always liked the name Sakura, anyway. It's a pretty name. Just be lucky that the name of the song has such a sensible name that is fitting to identify a person with (and likewise for this future kid). Because...if this wasn't the case, the kid could have issues with her own name.

In case you think up a name for another potential child, or change Sakura, I just hope you keep in mind of the type of attitudes your potential kid would develop and how much a desired name could conflict with them. For example, I probably wouldn't name my kid "poopy" if that happened to be the name of my favorite song. I seriously doubt he/she would like that name as he/she matured. -_-

But like I said before, Sakura would make a nice girl name choice.

Personally, I have a friend that plays DDR/ITG and if she and her bf ever had a baby girl they would probably name her sakura from what I heard.

Not because of the song but their favourite series is Cardcaptor Sakura. I think there is nothing wrong with giving your child a name that is unique no matter which culture it has originated from.

If me and my gf ever had kids, we already have names picked out. For a boy we have chosen the name xavier and for a girl we have chosen the name jade.

We both feel that in our area that we live in, these are uncommon names and above anything else these are names we would like and that I think our future children if we have any would like them as well.

It doesn't matter if your black, white, arab, hispanic, or asian you have a fundamental right to name your child whatever you wish, above anything esle that is your choice and nobody can hold you against it.

But Nicholas Cage can still not name his child Kal-El.

All this talk about naming kids reminds me... some of these names are as pointless as having 300 kids and naming them all Max. (not Period) But yeah, Sakura sounds like a good name.

..okay......wow.

But I'll be nice here.

I'm not stopping you from naming your kid whatever. You could name her Poopface McGee for all I care. All I was saying is you should carefully choose a name that you'll like for a long time and also think of any possible repercussions. Just a suggestion, that's all.

Sakura is far from a unique name, I do hope you realize that. I wouldn't mind if say, someone went to Japan for a year, and enjoyed the culture so much they named their kid after it with something like Sakura. But for a DDR SONG? Your favorite DDR song is going to change people! Same with anime! Don't slap your kid with a "favorite" name, because the favorite will change eventually.

The point is thatt your daughter will have that name for her whole LIFE. that means, that for upwards of 80 years (respectively) she will be named "sakura".

How old are you now? It seems too young to have a child, and it's still just a thought.

I really think you should find a new name. I mean. Really. This sounds all great in theory, but it is really really not a wonderful idea.

That is SO not true! Cardcaptors Sakura. HA!

Sakura is also used as a Japanese girl's name. But I don't know how popular/used it is...

Every day, I hope that <sarcasm> tags will no longer be necessary for the internet, and every day, I am let down once again.

As for the name dilemma, I couldn't give a rat's ass. I don't really think about names like that, but naming the kid after a song seems a little off. Originality comes from the most original thing you've got (unless you're a clone)--your brain. That's how it's always been for me.

But isn't Sakura a perdy name?

Honestly I don't myself naming my daughter Sakura, but if I ever get another pet...

But if your kid finds out they were named after a song... I can't predict how'd they react erm.gif

I'll adopt an orphan Russian and name him Harvester of Sorrow, and then we'll be able to better predict how one would react.

I'm named after a song (obviously not a DDR one), and I think that's pretty cool.

I personally wouldn't name my kid Sakura, but it's up to you. Of course, your tastes in childrens' names will probably change by the time you actually have them.
