The mall in Yuba City, Cali got one today . When I saw it I was a bit surprised considering I've never seen a ITG machine. I played it and it is so f'd up. Everything looks brand new, except the arrows are the crappy ones that have been seen on DDR Extreme.
The system itself is messed up, you push one of the menu arrows and it scrolls down like 5 songs. I've been play DDR for years now and I would keep missing so many arrows so the pads are messed up. Weird thing is that once the employee there restarted the machine back up it worked fine for 1 song, then it just messed up again.
Not a fan of ITG myself but it's better then the old buttocks DDR ex machine(probably fake also) and there is not PIU near here _________________

Sadly, yes, I've seen ONE in southern California. It was one of the EX US machines. I never new about these "crapocabs" (awesome name by the way) until today, but I remember seeing one of these pieces of monkey poop at a TILT arcade in a Mall in Industry, CA. Mind you, this was about... 4 months ago. I never played it, because I was seriously afraid of breaking something if i got on it.
Thankfully, almost every single cabinet here in So Cal is either a dedicated ITG2 or a modified DDR cabinet (there are seriously about 50 within a 20 mile radius of me, and my arcade has 4 machines), so I pray that this is the only one that creeped over from the south.
But this kinda brings up an interesting point. I know that Namco bought a crap load of these "crapocabs" for their arcades. And now that some of them are being replaced with somewhat legit cabs, they are "profit sharing" the "crapocabs" to other arcades... First off, can this really be called profit sharing? or just piling the crap onto another poor sap? Secondly, there was a point in time that Disneyland (yes, the happiest place on earth) was once an affiliate of Namco (they still might be, cause they have namco stickers on the machines with token values). ... Will Disneyland fall victim to these horrible pieces of machinery that make little girls cry??
And that, ladies and gentlmen, are my two cents. _________________

To read the couple posts earlier surprised me.
Our area (Salinas, Calif.) had an ITG2 dedicated for a span of two weeks, and it was one of the greatest things ever. There was some concern about timing issues, but the pad was OK and the game just seem to play better there than on an upgraded machine.
The machine has since been moved to a new location about 2 1/2 hours away because many of the players in our area were scared to try ITG2 and thus played the DDR Extreme machine. Profits from the machines were running even, and there were some points when DDR was making more, this according to Namco staff. I was sad to see it go, but corporate said they're thinking about bringing ITG2 back.
For any Namco arcade that has ITG2 and a DDR Extreme, make sure the ITG2 machine is doing better than DDR, or else it will be gone, much like our situation.

That wasn't really an issue at our Namco arcade -- even though almost nobody in town had ever played an ITG arcade machine before, as soon as our dedicab came in everybody bowed down to worship it and started hanging around the arcade all damn day. Usage of the DDR machine almost instantly fell to almost nothing. When they took the DDR machine away a few weeks later, it had had a number of unclaimed games sitting in it for a few hours (thanks to some kid who shoved in a dozen tokens and wandered off), but nobody would even take the free games because we were all too busy with the ITG2.
And if they ever tried to take it away, I think the manager would raise holy hell and cause quite a scene. I don't know if he could actually do anything about it, but I don't think he'd let anybody try to take "his" machine away without a serious fight. |

I remember seeing these crap-o-cab over in Six Flags Over Texas this past summer. The pads felt really uncomfort and I was getting too many misses. I couldn't go to the options menu either. Now, we have a crap-o-cab ITG2 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. At least the arrows respond better. |

We've got two in Northern PA/Southern NY. A bootleg AND an authentic (we play the latter and ignore the crappier smaller one with bad pads)
They're NOT going anywhere, considering they dropped the DDR price from a dollar to 75 cents. _________________
